Check the oil filter is tight and/or it's seal is on correctly.I still am not sure what you mean about the thing that connects to the oil pan.The oil pan is a single piece unit with no pipes etc. leading from it.

SOURCE: 94 jeep cherokee 4ltr. Leak at oil filter adapter

It is very hard to turn, but it will come loose, a cut off allen wrench attached to a pipe works great, as there is no clearance to do it any other way. Have at it cause the allen bolt is pretty hefty.

SOURCE: oil leak in my 92 jeep cherokee

The most likely place for an engine to start leaking oil (when it's coming from the top and not the bottom) is around the valve covers -- the gasket goes bad. Next most likely is camshaft seals.

Sometimes just tightening the valve cover botls will stop it or at least reduce it.

SOURCE: Would a bad Oil Pressure Switch jeep grand

OIL pressure light switches are one of the things that leak as they have a metal base and a black plastic insert and when over a while the switch gets hot same as the engine and the rubber gasket between the plastic and the metal base starts to leak .
So what you do is to wash down the switch area with a drop of petrol then let it dry for 10 minutes before starting the engine and watch the leak it might take 10 minutes as the oil has to get hot /and if it leaks when cold then replace it NOW
Let me know how you get on.

ENGINES ARE A BIG PRICE for the price of a switch RON

remove gearbox from engine and then flywheel and then change crankshaft oil seal, not a job for the faint hearted. Could the oil be dripping down from the camshaft cover, this is more common and easier to sort

Oil leaks on my jeep grand cherokee 2000

Most common are valve cover gaskets worn out...especially the inline 6 cylinder...inspect the oil pressure sending unit located beside the oil filter...these are the most common and least costly fixes...Hope this helps.

Gasket/O-ring bad on the oil fill cap. The fan is throwing it around where you've found the excess.

I have a 1998 jeep cherokee classic with 4 litre 6 it just developed a coolant leak in the front center of the engine pulley for water pump has a little play in it and i cant tell if its the water pump...

It sounds like your water pump is going out. Water pumps have a weep hole on them and when the seal is going out it will start leaking. Also you shouldn't have any play on the pulley.

My 1996 Jeep Cherokee Classic 4.0L has a small antifreeze leak, appears to be coming from bottom left (left side that is when facing it) corner of oil cooling assembly (I think it's the oil cooling...

Hmm I don't recall 4.0 having oil coolers be way to be sure is to buy a coolant pressure tester fill the sytem (with water don't waste new coolant) and pressurize it. The most common coolant leaks on 4.0 engine that I see r from the rad and the water pump.

Oil leak, 5 quarts in 75 miles. Somewhere to the rear of the filter, filter OK

Hello thundergod: My name is Roger and I will answer your question.Their is a oil pressure switch located to the rear of the oil filter. Should have a shield over the terminal. When this switch ruptures you will have a large oil leak. If you unplug the switch and start the engine you will see the switch leak. If you have a gauge it is called a sender unit. If you have a light on the dash it is called a pressure switch. Please rate the quality of this answer as this is how we know you received the right answer. Thank You for using FixYa.Roger

Oil leak

if its leaking from the top then its the valve cover gaskets. if its underneath the either the oil pan gasket or the rear main seal.
