The plastic outer covers for the lights maybe dirty and faded. A kit is sold at your local Walmart that is called a headlight polishing kit, I would give that a go. Take your car to a huge building at night and drive up to a reasonable distance to where you can see your lights shining on the broadside of it well. Take your screw driver and adjust them then, when you have an entire view of the lights being projected on the broadside of a building, that will give you the proper adjustment.

Headlights not bright

It's very difficult to see how a keyless remote could cause the problem you describe, to be honest.

The problem may lie in the reflective shield inside the headlight though you would notice any defects.

I'd still check the earth wires for the headlights though.

Why are my 2006 honda element odometer and trip lights out?

Seems to be common on this vehicle. According to the owners manual, "note the select/reset knob on the instrument panel (post protruding through bezel on right-hand side of steering wheel) controls the brightness of the instrument panel lights. Turn the knob to adjust the brightness.
Separate adjustments can be made when the headlights are on and off."

If the dimmer doesn't alter the brightness of the cluster when the headlights are on and off, then the bulbs will need to be replaced.
A YouTube video exists to show a beginner mechanic how to remove the bezel with 5 screws to access and replace the bulbs, which can be obtained at any auto parts store.

Dim lights

I had the exact same problem. Everything checked out ok at the garage including the earths. Finally we discovered that it is very easy to push the bulbs in in the wrong position and they will work but they are too dim. There is only one way that they are supposed to fit in, as soon as we got them slotted in correctly - bingo, dazzling headlights!

Adjust headlights

Any mechanic can aim your headlights for you , but I would consider buying new bulbs. Even if your car has halogens , they do become less bright over time.
Some of the new bulbs on the market will light up 2 to 3 times as far as older halogens.

One headlight is not as bright as the other one

Is the focus of the headlight incorrect and should be adjusted?
Have you checked the reflective surfaces to ensure they are clean and the headlight glass is clean?
And finally - maybe the other bulb is of higher quality/light output. I notice a significant difference between different brands of bulbs sometimes.

Changed passenger side headlight bulb, now unable to adjust or align head lights

Changing the bulb should not have affected the housing adjustments.

The bulb is just inserted into the headlight housing. The adjustments on the headlight housing is what adjusts the alignment of the headlights.

Did you maybe not get the bulb not seated correctly in the socket? Or didn't get the socket not seated correctly into the housing?
