If all the services have been done as outlined in the owners manual all that is due is an oil and filter change. The really big service was the 60,000 mile one, here is what should have been done already at 60,000 miles:

60,000 Miles (100 000 km)

Change engine oil and filter (or every

3 months, whichever occurs first).

An Emission Control Service.

Lubricate the shift linkage, parking brake

cable guides, underbody contact points and

linkage (or every 6 months, whichever

occurs first).

Inspect engine accessory drive belt (or

every 24 months, whichever occurs first).

An Emission Control Service.

Inspect camshaft timing belt. An Emission

Control Service.

Drain, flush and refill cooling system (or

every 24 months, whichever occurs first).

See "Engine Coolant" in the Index for what

to use. Inspect hoses. Clean radiator,
condenser, pressure cap and neck. Pressure test the cooling system and radiator pressure cap.

Replace spark plugs. Inspect spark plug wires.

Replace air cleaner filter. [Replace filter

more often under dusty conditions].

Inspect fuel tank, cap and lines for damage

or leaks. Inspect fuel cap gasket for any

damage. Replace parts as needed.

The information I gave you is right out of the GM manual on the car. Not sure what it is you need here.

It should have at least a new upper radiator hose, a cooling system drain and flush, a transmission fluid and filter change and a tune up and oil and filter change at this many miles. If the transmission oil is burnt smelling or the cooling system is rusty or discolored the car is not for you, it has not been maintained. Have it checked by a local shop, they call it a safety inspection, make sure the brakes are not worn out, the list goes on. If you would like my 45 years of experience on what to look for just call me 925-577-7157

The bottom line here is have the car inspected, this is very important for the safety of your child far away from home. Many shops offer the inspection for little cost, some do it free. You can call if you like, I don't bite. I very seldom offer a phone call, but this is a special case.

Thanks for the compliment. I trained in a GM dealer so know the products very well. The 1995 Lumina is an OK care. Your money would be better spent on a Ford Escort, they are great cars and very cheap to operate and repair when needed, any of the late 90's models fit this.

When the 1995 chevy lumina runs the motor blods down like its out on time and it will not start back up until the car sits for one hour

First of all, what engine size? Is check engine light on? Is it using coolant &/or oil? When was last tune up? Plugs, wires & filters? Always start off with maintenance first.

When's the lst time a major tune up was complete? You may just need some maintenance. When I say major I mean the following Spark plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, pcv vlave, check the EGR valve and replace if needed, and inspect/replace drivebelt(if needed). I had an EGR clog on mine and it would lose alot of power, sometimes stall. Also check that your fuel injectors are working proply. You should have a nice cone spray of fuel coming out. You will also want to make sure that your spark plugs are correctly gapped. Your local auto supply store should be able to tell you the correct gap.
Hope this helps.
