I am assuming that it is not a water hose as you have not mentioned water leaks.

this would probably mean it is part of the engine breather system, or the vacuum hose for the brake servo.
a leak in eather of these would result in air being constantly drawn into the engine, giving a weak air/petrol mixture which will result in erratic performace and "spluttering".

replace the hose first.
if the problem persists after replacing the hose, feel free to write again.

Gas leak under hood

Hey Dawn.(its a fuel line/hose)...Is it a metal hose? Its probably a OEM part..(dealership)... If its rubber, most parts stores should have it, or be able to get it.. Line pressure is the reason it still squirts after you turn off the engine..

Check engine light flashes and car sputters

my MPV has this symptom. in my case it is a hole in the breather hose which is on the back of intake manifold. my mechanic friend helped me diagnose this. codes came up as problems with O2 sensors because of the extra air getting into intake. when we opened the hood with van running we could hear the leak right away. this was causing engine to run very rich... currently looking for part... hope this helps

Need to change the thermostat on my 93 lincoln town car but can't find the location where is it located?

For 1993 Lincoln Town Car 4.6L EFI 8cyl the Thermostat is located: under hood, center, upper engine area, engine end of upper radiator hose, mounted in coolant outlet housing.

Hope this helps (reemember to rate this answer).

Where is the evaporator hose

if you mean the evaporator hose for the air conditioner .. then observe under the hood .. you will see two pipes coming from inside the car side by side .. one is large and one is small .. the evaporator is the thing inside your heater compartment that cools the air for air conditioning .. the hoses could be called the "evaporator hoses" . the large hose is the "low pressure" side and is where the refrigerant comes out of the evaporator .. the smaller hose is the high pressure side and thats where fluid under high pressure enters the evaporator

now there is also an evaporitive emission control system on your car .. thats where gas fumes that evaporate inside the gas tank are collected in a charcoal cannister temporarily .. when the car is running those fumes are drawn into the engine and burned along with the fuel ... there is a hose that comes from the gas tank to the cannister and you could call that an evaporation collection hose ..

You have a check valve,in a vacuum hose ,that is bad or a vacuum line that is sucked together,or has a hole in it under the hood, there might be a vacuum reservoir that may have a hole in it,it holds vacuum for the ac heat control doors, look under the hood.

Find heater core

you can find the heater core of any car by following to heater hoses from under the hood they will meet at the same point on your firewall (wall seperating the inside compartment from hood compartment) If they meet at a box under the hood passengers side firewall then the core is under the hood if those 2 hoses meet and just go into the car from under the hood your core is under your dash at the location the hose go into the car. Your core is directly attached to those 1" hoses (black) 2 of them.

Car hesitates and sputters

It seems like you have a vacuum leak in a hose some where. Check under the hood for any rubber hoses that are dry-rotted, cracks, or sharp bends in any of them.

Car sometimes just quits, or sputters when i slow

You can try this. I had a similar problem with my 89 TC which turned out to be dirty electrical connections under the hood. Locate all the connections under the hood, disconnect, clean, relube and reconnect.
