You would have to replace the Ignition switch and the ECM unit to do that. When they have a chip in the key the two work together and when one fails the system goes into security mode.

X reg K11 micra with chip in key .. starting problems! Car only got 34000 miles and most garages are clueless to this system ,being told car is beyond economical repair due is there an easy fix bypass

I don't know about your car but I had the same problem with my Buick Le Sabre and my mechanic by passed the security section in the ignition and it works all the time now. The only thing is I have no security but we are not worried about theft here. I don't even need a special made key any more. Cost me thirty bucks to repair.

2001 monty carlo changed battery securty light flashing car wont start. car ran great before any trick or code i dont know to get it to start

Leave the key in the run position until the security light stops blinking. This should take 10 minutes. Then turn the key off, wait 5 seconds and try to start it. The security light should be blinking again. Leave the key on again for 10 minutes. Repeat this 3 times. After the third time on the the next start it should start and run fine. This will reprogram your theft system.

Car wont start, the security light is blinking and the car wont start

Your VATS security system is failing. Quick fix, turn key forward 2 clicks till right before it starts. Leave it for 10 minutes. (no less) turn back key and then start again. should be fine. Getting these fixed is about 800 bucks. They sell a bypass for 200 online. I did the "10 minute trick" for over a year, till finally the Computer went. I ended up doing the 200 dollar bypass. Works great, no worries.

Truck cranks over but wont start changed fuel pump worked for 4 days same problem this problem only happens one in a while security light comes on to mechanic said it had to do with the key being warndown...

Absolutely these security systems today a re frisky i would consider having a new key made at the dealer of coarse that is your option other key shops will not be able due to anti theft .You will need vehicle registration for proof of ownership due to anti theft protection. Tip Be sure this isn't a isolated situation your having i my self had to do what i recommend to you.

I lost my original key with the chip so i change the ignition and the key i got now dont have a chip. know my car wont start and the security light flashes and the brake light all on the dashboard.

By trying to use another key yu triggered the antitheft system which prevents the car from starting. The only solution is to take it to a dealership and have them replace the ignition switch, the key and the module. About $1000.00. Or you can get a bypass system for about half that, maybe less. Check out this website before you do anything. http://newrockies.ca/vatsbypass.

Need owners manual to see how to fix a problem with the security system. The key has a chip and somehow it won't start the car Mechanic thinks it is in the security system related to the chip in the key...

The chip is part of the PASS-II security system. It is designed to prevent engine being started with another key. It is part of the security system. When you insert key and turn the ignition to the on or start position, does the security light in dash panel flash? Unfortunately, there is no way to by-pass or turn it off. Also, the key and chip must be completely dry and clean. Contact your nearest GM dealership or a locksmith who can service the PASS-II system to get a new key. I had a 1995 Buick Regal with the same problem. I had to get a new key from the dealership. Let me know if this works for you or not. Thanks.
