Question about 1996 Ford Taurus
Find the inlet hose on the radiator which should be on the upper driver side, trace it back to where it connects up to the engine block, remove the hose from the engine and you will see the thermostat, before semoving the old thermostat make sure you have a new gasket so the system will not leak.
