I have a 96 Cadillac Deville. The car will start and run on its own. i drove it down the road and when i give it to much gas it cuts out before taking off.while driving it started cutting out and eventually it died and had to push it home. i had the fuel tank replaced a couple months ago and now i think its the fuel pump. can sombody help me out thanks

As with any no start issue, someone will need to check for spark at the plugs and fuel pressure at the injectors to proceed. Could be a relay or the fuel pump, or a long list of things.
had it been sitting for a while before you got it? could be bad gas, could be moisture on the plugs, could be a fuel pump. turn it over a bit then check a plug and see if there is gas to it if there is then check to see if there is a spark. If no spark check coil.
check for spark when it turns over, have some one listen to see if your fuel pump runs when you turn the key on, check to see if you have fuel pressure, check to see if you have compression
