Question about Nissan Quest

1 Answer

While I am driving my Nissan Quest I am pressing the gas pedal and all of a sudden it is not getting gas, I have to keep pushing on it and it will finally get gas, or I have to put it in nuetral while still moving and turn key off then back on, then it gets gas. What could this be? Fuel Pump? Any one know also the cost? thanks

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. Your fuel pump may be going bad. It is possible. When you turn the key on, you can hear it for a second or two. So, when you turn the key on, it is at its strongest during those two seconds. It explains the gas working when you turn it off and turn it back on. Gas goes from the tank to the fuel pump, from the pump to the fuel filter, through the filter to the gas lines, from the lines to the fuel injectors and the engine. That is your gas system. It could be a clogged fuel filter or damaged lines. Check them all. A fuel filter is around 20 dollars and a fuel pump could cost 125-235 dollars. Your pump may be in the gas tank. In order to check it, you have to take the tank off. Try the filter first. If you have any questions, let me know. Thanks for using FixYa and have a good evening.

Replaced Throttle body throttle position sensors

There is another sensor mounted to the gas pedal. It has to communicate with the throttle body assembly. If the correlation is not correct between the two, the problem will persist. The throttle body assembly is usually the most common of the two, however the accelerator position sensor still gives problems.
