Question about 2008 Hyundai Sonata

1 Answer

I am replacing a third headlight bulb in my 2008 Sonata since I bought it 18 months ago. One bulb on the left side and two on the right. Might this be another problem and not just the bulb?

Left headlight replaced but still not working, swapped with right bulb so bulb is good

If you checked for power inside the socket(power and ground) the bend the tabs in the socket to touch the bulb wires. They get hot and bend. pull them out a bit.

For a 2007 v6 sonata the right headlight is not coming on. The left side relay is getting pulled in but the right side relay doesn't. Why?

Try to swap the right relay with the left one and see if anything happens. If it doesn make any difference pls check with a voltmeter if there's any voltage supplied to the right relay. The relay sockets melt sometimes if the connectors oxidize and overheat under electric load.

Headlight keeps blowing

Check the amps that are being drawn by the headlights. Compare that with what the bulb should be drawing using:
amps= watts / volts
I am going to guess its higher but not to the point of blowing the fuse for your lights. I would then start checking grounds.
Or, you used halogen bulbs and you touched the glass. I doubt they would both fail at the same time from that.

How do you fix a 2008 HYUNDAI SONATA front head light?

The halogen headlight is basically a bulb that is replaced from behind the headlight assembly inside the hood. Hyundai has a cover that keeps moisture and debris out. To remove it, simply twist the cover counter clockwise. Once removed, you should be a locking "bracket" that will resemble a small wire handle. This locks the bulb into place. The handle can be released by "squeezing" it together (on some models, the handle is kept in place by a notch) and pulling up. Once released, you will be able to remove the plug and old halogen bulb.
Once the bulb is replaced, reverse the instructions to re-assemble. Best of luck and thank you for using Fixya! Greg

Try inspecting the wires, socket, and bulb for defects. Try a wiggle test on the wires to that lamp. See if there is any effect. If nothing inspect the socket for hot spots and/or corrosion.

Turn Indicator won't work when headlights on!

Double check the bulb numbers. Check all the bulbs and make the numbers from the right and left are the same. (Left side is OK so that number is probably correct) Then if the numbers are correct, check the installation of the bulbs. Many bulbs have 2 filaments if installed backwards it could cause the problem.
