Question about 1994 Toyota Pickup

1 Answer

I have a 1994 Toyota 4x4 pickup. About 3 months ago it started shaking between 45 and 65mph. When I let off the throttle it stops and rides smooth but just a little acceleration causes it to shake again. New tires and new rims balanced and aligned did not solve anything. I've heard so many it could be "this or that" I am worried I could end up paying a fortune to try "this or that". Any solid answers would be GREAT.\r\nBill H.

Sounds like a u-joint, the best way to check them is to remove the drive shaft and flex each joint by hand, i will bet you have a sized cap.

I have a Toyota pickup 1994 manual, when i am starting to go in first gear my truck seems to like bog down but my RPMs are still rising. When i shift to second it does the same thing for minute then...

Mine has a flat spot around 2000 rpm ... which I've continued to ignore. Others have suggested that the Throttle Position Sensor needs adjustment.

A possibility...if the coolant sensor is not working, it will dump more fuel if it thinks it is a cold engine.

1994 toyota pickup idling problems

Could be a throttle position sensor going bad or a loose or leaking vacumm line or loose or worn wiring harness. You had mentioned the engine starts heating up. Do you mean overheating or operating above normal temperature? Sounds like a vacumm issue with the fluctuating idle. Check for worn vacumm lines and check to see if the vacumm is functioning. Sometimes a simple vacumm line with a loose connection or a small hole in it can affect your idle. Old lines are easily replaceable and an inexpensive place to start, then try your egr valve, pcv valve, brake booster vacumm line, oxygen sensor could be worn and affecting the mapping of fuel and air on the computer. Usually the check engine light will come on in this case.

Truck Idles weird?

I would guess that a dirty throttle plate is your problem. If the throttle plate is not closing properly, the Throttle Position Sensor is not fully closed, with does not activate the "closed throttle switch". Remove the air tube from the intake manifold; and observe the throttle plate. if it is real dirty with black carbon build-up, this is your problem. Spray it with carb claners until it is nice and shiny.

the color of the plastic plug does not matter... You will have two injector plugs with white/red and yellow wires - those two go to cyl#'s 1 and 3.
the other two plugs will have white and blur wires.. those two plugs go to injectors # 2 and 4.
