A lot of play in the steering wheel is a result of bad ball joints. The ball joints are what tie the steering system to the wheels, so if the joints go bad there will be play in the wheel. I had to replace the BJ's on my truck to get rid of the play. Any shop will do the repairs and the cost istn too bad. A little shop like mine will always beat the big guys prices. Good luck!

Lexus,I recently had the rear subframe out and fixed leaks in differential, I have the car jacked up and in 2nd gear I notice that the drivers side wheel has a wobble in it. Is this a wheel bearing?

No, you check a wheel bearing by grabbing the top and bottom of the tyre and try and rock in and out looking for play. Worn bearing also make a noise when you drive, a whine or a drone. Normal cause of wobble is balance weights falling off, or a bent rim. On my Lexus, I had a slight wobble in the steering wheel and it turned out the alloy rim was out of true.

Will driveaxels cause a wobble in the front end?

it is possible that a bent shaft or failed cv joints will cause the problem
it depends if the wobble starts at a certain speed and gets worse up to a speed then stops or just gets to the point where steering control is lost
because the bearings have been replace along with tie rod ends I am tempted to consider that the axles are not the problem ( unless the repairs stated were done to fix the wobble ) but the the wheel bearing adjustment is not correct and that the fittment of the tie rod ends has altered the wheel alignment
consider a wheel alignment to correct a castor fault ( wheel wobble) and recheck the correct adjustment of the wheel bearings
if the cv joints are worn , dry ,they can be binding up and not altering angular movement easily which may appear as a wheel wobble

1998 voyager front tires wobble back and forth when jacked up. Is it tie rod or ball bearing?

If it wobbles with your hands at 9 and 3, its a tie rod end.
If it wobbles with your hands at 12 and 6, its a wheel bearing.

1999 For Explorer XLT , 4.0 liter SOHC, AWD 4x4 , the front right wheel wobble's at any speed

Could be loose lugs/ not torqued to spec. , bad wheel bearing, bad ball joint(s), bad steering arm joint, bad rack and pinion power steering unit, or other steering components. Check lugs first, loosen and retighten while slightly jacked up to take some pressure off of the wheel use a torque wrench set to 100 ft lbs. Then raise wheel about and inch off the floor, use a crowbar to pry up on the wheel several times while observing your ball joints for excessive movement. Very much play at all, replace ball joints, works better to replace them as a pair, top and bottom. If OK, raise wheel a bit further, and grab the top and bottom of the wheel and push/pull in and out to check for play in the wheel bearing. Pretty much any play, replace wheel bearing. If ok, do the same with a side to side motion while observing the steering control arm. Look for play. Play in the joint, replace joint. Play in other steering components, replace suspect component. That's about all the stuff could make the wheel wobble unless the rim itself is bent.

Shaking steering wheel

sounds like a wheel bearing has failed or the trackrod, jack up car and feel for play by wobbling each wheel left to right and up and down, if you can look over the wheel you could see play somewhere unless it's the main wheel bearing

Front driver tire wobbling and very unstable lug nuts are tight

Is there and kind of squeling or grinding noise when the vehicle is driven?
The wheel bearings could have failed and are allowing the tire to wobble.
Is there a lot of play or a clonking noise when the steering is turned from side to side?
You could have a bad steering joint and this is allowing the wheel to wooble.

From what you describe it likely is a very bad axle bearing. I would recommend not driving until repaired.

2007 jeep wrangler shakes uncontrollaby after

When you say shakes i am guessing the steering wheel. If it is the steering wheel shaking, it's know as the death wobble. Check the front steering components, look for worn or broken parts. Most common for death wobble are the tie rod ends, idler arm and pitmen arm. look for play along the track bars and check the ball joints. The other thing too that will cause a death wobble is a bad alignment. there may be negative or no caster at all which would give you a death wobble. Check all of the above and keep me posted. Good luck and be safe
