Question about 1996 Honda Accord

1 Answer

I have a 1996 Honda Accord. My driver door is the only door the electric locks work. The passenger door locking button only works for the driver side. All the other locks are not working. Are the actuators out in each door or could it be something else? Thanks!

This could be broken wires in the space between the body of the car and the door panel itself.other wise it sounds like the door locks in the doors are bad.you don`t say if this started all of a sudden or one door started to not work then another and so on.its possible that it is the wires coming from the switches them self going to the other doors.

you most likely have a power/ground/switch issue in the drivers door. the power for the other three doors must first travel through the switches in the driver door before it goes to the passengers. hence the reason why when somebody rolls down a passenger window and you push the up button on the driver door the window stops moving. the wires can break inside the rubber boot in the door jam. you can also have an internal problem with the driver door switch unit. you would need a wiring diagram to diagnose this concern.

Doors not locking (but unlocking is okay).

The only time my doors don't lock with the remote is when a door is open. If your problem is mechanical it wouldn't unlock. Might be a sensor thinking a door is open. Does the other functions with the remote work like rolling the windows down or hitting the lock button flashes the light ? I can't lock my doors from the inside with the remote.

Sounds to me like perhaps there's an electrical issue going on here. You will probably need to take it to a mechanic or dealer to get fixed. I mean, if both the remote and the buttons fail to lock/unlock, it really sounds like an electrical issue.
Do any of the buttons work on any of the doors? If so, it may just be the driver's door that has a problem.
