Question about 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora
When the temperature is moved from 60 to 80 degrees nothing happens. If you turn off engine and restart the temperature will be 80 degrees. So to change temperature you must adjust and turn off engine and restart. They replaced the controller and we still have the same problem. Any ideas what the problem is?

the water pump is driven by a small belt at the back of the front cylinder head. the pump needs to be removed with a special socket. From what i recall the pump has tabs on it that lock into the housing & i think its reverse thread / turn right to remove the pump instead of left

You can buy a replacement ambient air temp sensor at an auto parts store for about $10. Its as simple to change as a light bulb and can be found behind your front bumper at the base of the radiator.

I had the same problem until I adjusted (carefully!) the throttle stop. It is a Torx screw that the throttle rests against at stop/idle. Apparently after a while, enough slop develops in the throttle cable & connectors that the throttle actually goes past "TDC" when the engine is turned off and it takes quite a bit of pressure to get it to move, creating a dangerous situation of sudden acceleration.
The adjustment is not enough to affect engine idle speed.

SOURCE: Heated seats not working on
Thanks for using FixYa. Check for a broken wire connecting the heating element. A common cause for the heated seats to not work is a burned heater element. There is an element under the seat cushion cover, and one under the seatback cover. If either has failed, both will not work. Take the seat apart and investigate the problem thoroughly.
Determine if the front seat assembly heat element resistance values are within the specified range.
If the resistance values are NOT within the specified range, install a Front Seat Heater Package between the existing front seat trim cover factory heat elements and the seat cushion and back foam pads.
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
