On my 91 ram 1500, 318 I take my battery terminals off while it's running alternator is Good brand new but it kills my truck when I take battery terminals off

There are much better, safer ways to test the alternator. You should never remove the battery when engine is running or when the key is in on. That old style method was before engine computers. It causes voltage spikes which can fry delicate electrical components, the computer and its many low voltage circuits, and the alternator as well.

Use a voltmeter (costs like $20), and check battery voltage-a good battery should read at least 12.5 volts. Then check battery with engine running. A good alternator should show 13.5 volts at the battery. Then you know the alternator is working. If battery is still same as when not running, the charging system is not working.

It is just possible that you have a bad alternator. Take it off and have it tested at a parts store for free.

1987 hONDA CIVIC CRX 300 THOUSAND MI. HAVING CHARGING ISSUES. NEW BATTERY-ALTERNATOR-WHAT ELSE CAN I TRY

It could have bad wire connection to the alternator, When the car runs try disconnecting the battery if it stays running the alternator is good and the wiring is good. If it dies then the alternator or the wiring is bad.

My 350 engine in my 1983 cutlas loses power, but has new battery and alternater. gotta get boost to start car.

if it started having this problem after you put in a new alternator, it could be an improperly connected alternator. if not, something electrical could be staying on which would kill the battery. however if you shut it off, and immediately you try to start it and it will not start (turn ignition off, and less than 10 seconds later it still wont), then its probably something with the alternator.

14 is good, (10 is bad). Any other issues with the electrical system?
The gauge may just be off a little. If you put a voltmeter on the battery with engine running, it should show anywhere from about 13.5-14.5 volts. That's the alternator output to charge the battery and run the car's electrical systems.
If voltage truly dropped to 10 volts when car was running, I think your check engine light would come on, and there would be serious issues with lights flickering and dimming. Check the alternator output. Good luck.

Having charging problems on 91 ford exploer keeps killing new battery tested altornator and they said it was good was wondering when you hook volt meter is supose to read and thank you inadvance

When your engine is running, you should have around 14.2-14.5 volts using a voltmeter across the + and - terminals on the battery. If it is around 12, you have a bad alternator, blown alternator fuse, or alternator wiring fault.

CHECK ALTERNATOR VOLTAGE OUT PUT AT BATTERY USING A DIGITAL VOLTMETER.WITH ENGINE RUNNING IT SHOULD BE 13.5 TO 14.5 VOLTS.IF NOT YOU HAVE A BLOWN ALTERNATOR FUSE.OR DAMAGE WIRES TO ALTERNATOR.IF VOLTAGE IS OVER 15 VOLTS NEW ALTERNATOR HAS FAULTY VOLTAGE REGULATOR.

Electrical issue

Sounds like a bad alternator, charge battery, check voltage without car running (should be around12v) start engine (voltage should be between 13.50- 14.5v) , check and make sure alternator belt is ok also.

the regulator is in the alternator. it sounds like it isn't charging the battery anymore. battery voltage should be around 14 volts with engine running. also check connections at alternator to battery. have seen corrosion here keep the battery from charging
