Question about 1992 Chevrolet S-10
Same problem here. I finally got it after soaking the bottom latch with WD40 for a week. I ended up cutting the bottom rubber seal OFF below the latch. With a BMF screwdriver and hammer and three swings...it opened. The bottom of the latch has an "L" shaped metal guide-this is not the latch. Beside that, towards the rear of the truck, is the latch. The bottom part of the latch must be forced towards the cab and upwards at about a 45 degree angle. After removing the part I could see that it couldn't be unlatched from the inside no matter how much lubricant, heat, cussing or beer drinking I did. TOTAL COST: Latch-about $58 dollars (dealer item only)
Rubber seal- $25 or so

I literally just fixed the third door a half an hour ago on my 2000 zr2. first thing, take off the plastic door panel(don't forget the 2 bolts for the belt) it's really easy. don't be afraid to break anything. the fasteners are metal and they squeeze in(as well as out). at least on my truck. after the panel is off, you can see the latch mechanism. load it up with wd40(10-15 seconds should do). let it sit for about a half an hour. pull up on the lever that would be connected to the handle, or pull on the handle if you still have it attached. keep it pulled. you may need someone to do it for you. next, pull on the bottom of the door(the way it's supposed to open). make sure you still have the handle or lever pulled while doing this. you may have to work at it. i had to. i now it sounds kind of easy and rediculous, but it sure as hell worked for me. i just bought the truck yesterday. the guy who had it before me couldn't get the door open. he let it sit for too long without using it. it became rusted.

The 3rd door handle is plastic and needs to be replaced. Very easy to do. Remove the 2 screws holding the seat belt straps. The iner door panel needs to be pulled away from the door. This will expose the iner door locking assem. Unscrew the two screws holding the door handle, You will find that the bottom holder broken. It is a dealer item about 30.00 bucks. If you can't open the door, remove the door handle first, reach in the hole and pull the upper and lower rods to manually open the door.
