    ok i got it

I cannot get my Crankshaft Pulley Bolt off either. I tried several things so far with no luck:

I grabbed the pulley with a rubber reinforced strap wrench which broke when I applied torque.

I attached a breaker bar to the bolt and wedged it against the frame on the right side. I then 'bumped' the starter by turning the key in the ignition. I did this several times until the battery died and the bolt is still stuck.

Next I am going to try and wrap a strong chain around the pulley and anchor it to the frame. I will then attach a pipe to the breaker bar and see if I can turn it. I was told to wrap the pulley in rubber first in order to not let the chain nick the pulleys. Man this is a serious pain! I think the bolt will probably break before turning.

Just put a big screwdriver into the fly wheel teeth, thru the hole in the bellhousing, (on the right side). Hold the flywheel still in this manner, while a friend breaks the big bolt loose on the balancer. Be sure to torque it back to the specified torque when you're finished with the belt replacement. Worked for me, back when I replaced my timing belt..Gary

How to install balance drive gear on crankshaft 2007 Camry 2.4

Remove old crankshaft pulley ( Harmonic Balancer), by putting sturdy socket, think its 19mm, or 3/4 " on the center crankshaft bolt, with a good size breaker bar, wedge the breaker bar in between the suspension, and drive axle, to keep the breaker bar from spinning, while, you now turn the key inside the car, to engage starter, to spin the crankshaft, which may take several attempts, of turning the key, and putting socket back on, they are very stubborn,to break the center bolt loose,
Then remove harmonic balancer, with a PULLER, which requires 2 bolts, in the threaded holes, one on each side of the now empty center bolt hole, autozone , advance, has these to loan out, only requires deposit, which they give back to you, when you return it.
Put square key in slot on bare crankshaft, slide harmonic balancer,(crankshaft pulley, while lining up the square key,and tighten crankshaft bolt.

I'm trying to remove the crankshaft pully off of a 2000 Oldsmobile intrigue. I was able to remove the center bolt bolt the the pully doesn't have any holes to use a puller with how can I take it...

Attach the arms of the crankshaft pulley removal tool over the pulley and tighten the tool to the pulley using the tool's supplied bolts. Continue to tighten the tool using the bolts until the crankshaft pulley is pulled off the crankshaft. auto zone rents out tools for the job.

Do i need to remove camshaft bolt to remove camshaft pulley on 1996 Mazda Protege

1 Locate the crankshaft pulley on your vehicle. This is usually on the driver's side, but may be on the passenger's side if your timing belt is located on the passenger's side. Place the end of the tire wrench over the lug nuts of the appropriate wheel of your vehicle and turn the wrench about 45 degrees. 2 Put your emergency brake on. Then use the floor jack to jack up the vehicle's front jack point (an extension of the frame).3 Put the jack stands under the frame of the vehicle. Then, lower the vehicle onto the jack stands. 4 Continue to loosen and remove the lug nuts, and pull the wheel off.5 Remove the plastic rivets that hold the splash guard in place in the wheel well. To do this, you need to wedge the screwdriver in between the rivets and the splash guard and pry them out.6 Locate the crankshaft pulley. It will be right behind the splash guard you just removed.7 Remove the crankshaft bolt using the crankshaft bolt remover tool. Place the tool over the crank pulley bolt in the center of the pulley. This device prevents the pulley from rotating while you loosen the bolt.8 Place the socket end of the impact wrench over the crankshaft bolt remover tool. Set the impact rench to turn counterclockwise and turn on your air compressor. Wait until the compressor is fully charged. Then, work the bolt loose. It may take a while as this bolt normally requires in excess of 800 ft lbs of torque to remove.9 Attach the arms of the crankshaft pulley removal tool over the pulley and tighten the tool to the pulley using the tool's supplied bolts. Continue to tighten the tool using the bolts until the crankshaft pulley is pulled off the crankshaft.

I replaced brake pads on a 2004 astrovan. in doing so I removed 2 bolts on the caliper that held it to the bracket these were not the usual bolts at the ends of the caliper is this normal? I also tried to...

The ones connected to the bracket that spin DO NOT come out, they're part of the bracket. If you notice on those, they have a small notch on them to insert the appropriate wrench so it wont spin on you when re tightening the caliper bolts. So yes, that's absolutely normal. There in normally two bolts that hold the caliper. remove those and the caliper comes out and you can replace the brakes, now if you need to remove the rotor, then you need to remove two other bolts that are for the caliper bracket,.

Where is the crancksaft sensor and how do I replace it

The crankshaft sensor is located behind the crankshaft pulley, you will need to remove the pass/side tire and then the lower cover that covers the pulley area the remove the center crankshaft bolt and with a puller remove the pulley but first remove the surpentine fan belt then remove pulley next is to remove the plastic cover behind pulley, this is done by pulling it out then you will see the sensor, remove the connector and then remove the bolts holding it and out it comes, install new.

How do I remove the rear axle

The rear axle shaft?? Or the entire axle? I'm going to go with the axle shaft. Secure the vehicle. Loosen the lug nuts. Jack it up. Take the wheel and tire off. Remove the caliper and/or bracket. Remove the rotor. Place a pan under the rear differential cover. Remove the rear differential cover. Spin the axle shaft to reveal the center pin. Locate the 8mm-5/16 bolt that holds the center pin in place. Remove that bolt. Slide the center pin out, BUT DON'T TURN THE AXLE SHAFTS WHILE ITS OUT! Push the axle shaft in from the outer portion (where the wheel goes). A "C" clip will fall out inside of the differential. Pull the axle shaft out. Slide the center pin back in. Replace the 8mm-5/16 locking bolt and spin it a few times to keep everything in place.
