I have a 2002 Chevy 3500 DuraMax diesel, that if I don't drive it for a week then the transmission fluid pressure is not up so no matter which gear you put it in it will not move. I have to leave it running for about an hour before it will engage the transmission. There is several technical bulletins out on the problem. I took it to the local Chevy dealer and they agreed that was the problem, and their only suggestion was a new transmission. I don't have any problems as long as I drive it all the time, but that was not what I bought it for. This may be your problem.

Check your psi at the torque converter. sounds like you have a low fluid level or a bad tq converter.

You may want to have the transmission fluid and filter changed. It sounds like its starving for fluid, especially when it is cold.

I have a 1979 f150. When I put the transmission in drive it does not respond until I press the gas pedal at a higher rpm. When it does respond it shifts great. What could be the problem and if I can't...

does it only do it when you initailly put it in drive?? or does it do it also when you stop at a light and try in take off?? sounds like the torque converter is draining back...and it needs to refill before it will move.. probably doesnt have anything to do with higher rpms, just refillling... when you first start it up put it in drive, then reverse, then drive then reverse, then drive, and see if it will move without higher rpms... if it engauges fine when you do this, the torque converter is draining back... not much you can do about that.. not sure if that truck has a one way valve in the trans line or not...some were installed in the lines to keep fluid from draining back.

2004 jeep grand cherokee idling problem. Revs motor 200 to 500 rpms higher while driving.

I had the exact same problem on my 04 GC. I put some Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner in from Wal-Mart and it seemed to fix the problems right away. Let me know.
