Question about 2000 Ford Focus

1 Answer

Manual transmission I just changed the clutch in my 2000 ford focus and when i pulled it off there was no fluid in fly wheel housing. Do I need to put fluid in there does it not need any in that part of the transmission? I didnt think it would cause it would make the fly wheel slip but i just wanted to make sure.

The clutch operates dry. Your assumption that it would slip with oil in there is a good one.

How to get fly wheel off of 77 Ford F100, 351 mod, 400 block?

I had to do this on my 1988 F250, if I remember correctly:
Remove in this order:
Driveshaft, Starter, lower cover plate, transmission, torque converter.
Flywheel s/b bolted to converter.
When driveshaft is removed - plug gap in tranny output - between drive shaft and housing - to prevent fluid spillage.
When removing transmission - plug hole in converter to prevent spillage.
When handling converter hold it flywheel side down until - to avoid fluid loss.
I presume you have all the correct tools and a helper.
hope it goes well

Need to replace a wheel speed sensor in my 2000 ford focus on the back passenger side

There's a single set screw holding the sensor on the side.
Disconnect the electrical plug first.
Caution: With the sensor out, transmission fluid will leak out. Either drain the transmission fluid before or use a preselected hole plug.
Remove the set screw. Gently pull out the sensor from the transmission.

My 2000 ford focus se is leaking brake fluid through the transmission would I have to replace clutch?

if it leaking brake fluid there, it would be your throw-out bearing! would also be the perfect time to replace the clutch! also, brake fluid will eat away the clutch disc lining!

CHANGE FLY WHEEL ON 1987 FORD BRONCO 11

Changing the fly wheel means dropping the trany pulling the clutch. First remove both drive shafts then unhook the clutch line to the slave on the top of the bellhouse this should be a small U shaper pin you have to pull out a piece of wire can be looped through and make it easier to pull it out.

Once that is out of the way take the tanny cross member out and the exhaust Y pipe needs to come out unless you have a body lift and put a jack or something under the transfercase then take out the bottom bell housing bolts and then the top bell housing bolts then you should be able to work the tranny back mind the bolts on the radius arm cross member you may need to back them down sometimes.

Once it is out then you will have 6 of 13mm bolts on the clutch and 6 of 16 or 17mm bolts holding the fly wheel on there should be blue locktight on the flywheel bolts.

Things to note make sure the fly you your putting on has been machined if it is used put a new pilot bearing in the fly your putting on unless it is new put new clutch on or at the very least a new clutch disk trust me it is worth it.

The bolts on the drive shaft can be a pain spray them with WD-40 or equivalent the night before put never sieze on these when you put them back. When your putting the trany back in watch the clutch line it wants to be down there and it is easy to get it caught.

When you take the thin aluminum plate off take care of it with out that plate you can't start your truck right.

Additional details could find in Autozone.com. Hope this helps.

I am putting a 99 ford explorer tranny in a 98 explorer sport with the 4.0 sohc engine. the bolts match perfect and the torque converter from the 99 tranny lines up perfect with the fly wheel. when I go to...

The torque converter is not all the way in the transmission. Pull the transmission back out(unfortunately) and you will need to shake and wiggle while lightly pushing the torque converter into the transmission. Once it goes over the splines for the pump, you will know and the space between it and the transmission housing will be minimal.

What tools do i need to change the front brake pads on an 03 ford focus?

A socket set, possibly 14mm, a breaker bar or ratchet extension,( a piece of pipe will do), and a giant C-clamp. Pull the 2 bolts from the rear, pull the caliper off, remove old pads, note the shims, put in new pads, squeeze caliper pistons down tight, slowly, or fluid will fly out the reservoir, put the caliper back, make sure your rotors are good, smooth, no grooves, if bad they will need turning or replacing. Put the bolts back in, top off the fluid or not, you should be all set. Don't go flying down the driveway expecting to stop, you need to get them working a little before venturing out in traffic. Hope this helps.

Fly wheel ring gear replacement

You need to pull the tranny out.
Then the flywheel needs to be unbolted from the engine.
if it's an automatic, purchase a new flywheel, if its a clutch, you can have a new ring gear pressed on to the flywheel...
