I have the same problem, but with a gasoline F250. It acts like it wants to start, but won't...on occasion. Once it fires up, it runs like a champ all day long. Only if it sits overnight, or for more than 3 or 4 hours, will it have problems starting up. The ASE Ford mechanic that's been working on it can't figure it out. Have checked distributor, distributor wires, module, and battery. Once it fires up, the diagnostic machine says nothing's wrong. Any clues? I need my truck back!

Did you bleed all of the air out of the fuel lines and filter when you changed the pump?Dont spray either into the engine because it will damage the glow plugs.

Problem solved for me! The mechanic finally figured out that it was the electronic ignition module in the steering column. When they pulled it apart, one of the contacts in the module was burnt. He said he'd never seen a module burn out like that. Once it was replace the thing cranks like a dream. Good luck.

My pickup runs at an extremely high rpms. it is a 93 F250 powerstroke turbo diesel any thought on what i should try?

check the timing of the pump as pump timing if incorrect will cause engine failure . High rpms may be from the accelerator control not being assembled properly on installation or if ECM controlled the connection to the pump is not correct. Looking at ford diesel rpm specs , some fords run to 6500 rpms while others are at 4500 . As you have not stipulated the engine size or capacity ,it is hard to advise other than to go on line to googlr - type in ford max rpms for your engine and see what it is suppose to be

My truck is blowing white smoke out the tail pipe and I have no power wont go but I can idle around its a 2055 f250 turbo diesel, 300000 kms...litterally just started doing this a couple days ...

White smoke for a diesel means air in the fuel system. You will have to start at the engine, I start at the line going to the fuel pump. Get some fuel in a can, remove the line to the supply side of the pump and put another line from the can to the pump. If it starts and doesn't smoke , then you have to work your way back to the tank and find the spot that is sucking air. If it doesn't start the I would replace the filter first, check again. There is a possibility that the injector pump is bad, but these don't usually throw white smoke. They just make the engine have very little power or no start.

I have an 1993 Ford F250 Turbo Diesel truck that Just yesterday was running great, but today, it only turns over and won't start. The fuel pump is getting gas and the filter also, but beyond that, I don't...

Just recently my brother in laws 96 did the same , later that day it started no problem. Turns out the glow plugs had not heated up so the fuel would not ignite. We expected the problem to come back intermitently , but it has not happened agein. Hope yours fixes itself too.

sense its a deisel i would go with the vacume pump, diesels don't put out any or very little vacume, if you don't have vacume than booster won't work hense hard peddel. when you say you let up on peddel and hit it again you got better break tells me it is not getting enought vacume to booster. i would go for the vacume pump.

What tools do you need to replace a 1997 Ford F250 diesel fuel pump?

nothing special, its in the valley, probably have to remove the fuel bowl and the turbo pedastal to get access to it.
book value from navistar / ford is a 4 hour job.
better have a good ladder and a plywood sheet to lay on up in the engine bay.
