Question about 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix

MAF Parts store gave us one for a supercharged 3.8. We told them it was not supercharged......would explain why they look different but similar. lol thanks

It is the wrong part. Ask for one for 3.8 non supercharged

couple different things that it could be check for vaccume leaks ,when u changed the plugs did u notice any wet or dark colored if not thats a good sign if u did thats likely the cylinder its misfiring on do u know what cylinder is misfiring

Call your local auto parts store(s). Ask if the can perform an OBD2 check. Most auto parts stores that can, will do this for free. The print out will identify problem areas. However, it sounds like a MAF sensor in your case.

Check Engine light comes on for Mass Air Flow Input, yet I recently installed a new sensor and new aftermarket intake, with no air leaks, so why does the light come up?


Try swapping with another MAF sensor at the parts store. If it was very cheap compared to prices of other auto parts store, then it may be very low quality and defective brand new. I've always been told not to use aftermarket intakes that use oil as the oil will get on the MAF wire over time and cause the sensor readings to be off.

I just got a 1997 sebring with the 2.5l engine that is having misfiring and stalling issues. im told there are two different distributers with different shaft diameters for this year car but noone can tell...


The difference between the two distributors are the drive shaft diameters, they are NOT interchangeable. The distributor rotor must be correct for the distributor it is installed in, this part is also not interchangeable between the two different ones. If the parts stores can't tell which distributor you need, call the dealer, give them your vin number, and they will tell you the correct diameter for your car. Once the parts store knows which distributor you need, they will know which rotor you need.

How to repair a supercharger

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt from the supercharger pulley.
  3. Relieve the fuel pressure and remove the fuel injector sight shield.
  4. Disconnect the fuel pipes from the fuel rail and vacuum hose at the pressure regulator.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors and remove the fuel rail mounting bolts. Remove the fuel rail with the injectors intact.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the IAC, TPS, MAF, EGR and boost control solenoid. Lay the wiring harness aside.
  7. Remove the air intake duct and remove the EGR pipe from the supercharger.
  8. Disconnect the throttle cable and the cruise control cable. Remove the cable bracket.
  9. Remove the tensioner bracket to supercharger mounting stud.
  10. Remove the supercharger to intake manifold bolts, remove the supercharger from the intake manifold. Remove the supercharger gasket and coolant passage O-rings. To install:
  11. Replace the oil passage O-rings and the supercharger gasket.
  12. Install the supercharger and bolts. Install the tensioner bracket-to-supercharger bolt. Tighten the bolts to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm).
  13. Install the cable bracket and connect the throttle and cruise control cables.
  14. Connect the EGR pipe to the supercharger and install the air intake duct.
  15. Connect the electrical connectors to the IAC, TPS, MAF, EGR and boost control solenoid.
  16. Install the fuel rail and bolts and tighten the bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).
  17. Connect the connectors to the fuel injectors and the vacuum hoses at the pressure regulator.
  18. Connect the fuel pipes to the fuel rail and install the fuel injector sight shield.
  19. Install the accessory drive belt to the supercharger and connect the negative battery cable.

It may be worth your time to pick up some CRC MAF sensor cleaner at your local parts store and try cleaning the MAF before paying to replace it.

2000 monte carlo transmission


Well the tag is on the backside of the transmission closer to the firewall....I imagine one is the 4t65ehd which is the heavy duty and the other is the normal non supercharged version.. What a place for it huh lol

Air conditioning keep shutting off


I had a very similar problem with my Jeep, i had taken it to 3 different dealerships and all of them told me that I needed a new compressor ($900). Just by chance i ran the Jeep over to the local fixit shop and they immediately told me it was the clutch on the compressor. They went as far as saying that they see this all the time on Jeeps and they have yet to replace the actual compressor. We had them change the clutch on the compressor and all has been well since then.
