Exhaust leak near drivers side door

I failed my inspection because i think there is a leak in the pipe, i checked under the car on the passengers side and about 2 feet in a covering seems to have rusted off of one of the pipes so i pulled it off and it sounds pretty eh. The piece that it was covering has a rubber webbing on it and is larger than the pipe itself, like 5" x 5" x 3" and it gets REALLY hot, like unable to even touch it. Im just trying to find out what replacement part i need or what that is even called!? Thanks in advance...

This is a flex pipe and VERY expensive to purchase from the dealership("Y" pipe). Just go to midas or the local mechanic and have them use a universal joint. Won last as long and may crack later leaving you with exhaust noise, but nothing more depending on the size of the crack.
Mine is hanging in there since March 08...

Yeah, its your flex pipe, i would recommend just spending the extra money. also, for the guy above me, a u joint is on your drive train, not the exhaust, so dont listen to that, a u joint wont do ****, u need the flex pipe, or if u wanna risk it, just put a straight pipe in there, but the problem with that is the flex prevents ur exhaust from cracking and then falling off...so, in the long run, ull definitely want a flex pipe, so put the extra money into it now, and ull save money in the future

May be the exhaust manifold junction with the exhaust pipe leaking. Check the EGR valve gasket for leakage also.

94 plymouth vouyager is starting to over heat when driving for more then 10 mins

This leaking on the passenger side sounds like possibly the water pump. I THINK that this is a cross-mounted engine, with the drive belt on the passenger side. If so, it is almost certainly the water pump leaking. Get a flashlight and a small inspection mirror and search around under the water pump drive pulley for signs of water dripping. If no water is found there, it probably is not the pump. Have you checked the cooling fans for proper operation? Tested the temperature sender that controls the cooling fan?

How do I change the o2 sensor

Hello, to change the O2 sensor follow this steps:

1. Set the parking brake if the engine has been run recently, let it cool for a few hours before you start.

2. Raise the vehicle with a hydraulic jack and place the jack stand under your trackers frame to supports its weight. Lower the hydraulic jack and set it aside.

3. Craw under the engine on the right hand side(drivers side) near the driver's door. Locate the catalytic converter, which is mounted in-line with the exhaust pipe.

4. Locate the oxygen sensor which is mounted in the exhaust pipe near the rear of the catalytic converter.

5. Remove the wiring harness connector from the oxygen sensor by squeezing in the connector tab with your finger while simultaneously pulling the connector from the sensor.

6. Remove the sensor from the exhaust pipe by turning it out with an adjustable wrench in a counter clockwise direction.

Thanks

You may have a crack in crossover pipe on driver side near exhaust manifold where it bolts to crossover pipe flexing from engine movement opens crack on acceleration, check for cracks on both sides driver and passenger.

Check door rubber seal for damage / wear.

To test exhaust simply place a flexible object over exhaust pipe to seal it. If no leaks it should blow it off.
