If it is coming from the front of the engine and almost dead center, then probably the waterpump is going bad. The waterpump is located underneath the timing covers (2 pieces), and requires you remove the timing belt to change it. I can email you a procedure for removing and reinstalling the timing belt if you wish. Send a request to sernst@insightbb.com if you decide to change the waterpump.

No leak and 2003 nissan xterra smell like anti freeze check radiator, water pump.hoses.heater core.anti freeze level in radiator is perfect

If you can smell, then you have a leak,if the heater core has a pin hole, then the box that houses it will hold the antifreeze to wear you won't see any, have to take the box apart and see, check your hoses going thru the firewall to see if there leaking.

Pressure test the radiator for leaks if it holds pressure start the engine. And check if pressure rises and keeps rising ,if it does it points to blown gasket or cracked head. A faulty thermostat can make it over heat so check it out . I would not mix the anti freeze as a lot of them don't mix well. put the anti freeze in all year as it stops corrosion of the cooling system.

If the car uses anti-freeze without leaking, it is going out the tailpipe. You either have a bad head gasket or a crack in the head or block.

The antifreeze puddle? the is no water coming out of the water pump is there any more solutions?

Other possible sources for the anti-freeze are:
  • leaking radiator hose - concentrate on the area where the clamps are, they commonly fray and leak.
  • check radiator for leaks - common places on the radiator that leak are on the weld seams and the petcock
  • area around the thermostat - if the thermostat is plugged, it could be forcing anti-freeze backward and compromise the seal you have around the thermostat

After I drive my 1999 boxter the pasenger side exterior vent smells like a radiator and vapor comes out.

This is most likely leaking anti-freeze from the heater coil. Radiator Stop-Leak may help but replacement will likely be expensive. When replacing the heater coil, don't fail to rinse the plenum thoroughly. If you don't do this you will forever smell the anti-freeze....It does not evaporate ! That's why it is used. In the thirties and forties, alcohol was the anti-freeze of the day and it boiled off rapidly....results sere seized engine blocks or frozen systems. Thanks to DuPont for Prestone. Take care, Paul

99 suburban leaking from oil cooler fitting on radiator

It sounds like you might have a crack in the plastic tank of the radiator. If the line was leaking, I would think you'd see some oil leaking. Any anti-freeze leaking? When the truck is cooled down, I'd check the anti-freeze and oil level.

No heat. runs out of anti-freeze often.

check for anti - freeze leaks around radiator.look down at radiator where coolant fan is look see if it looks wet below radiator. the radiator is leaking.check all coolant hoses.also check water pump to see if its leaking by the weep hole.if all check out good you could have a intake leak.

Anti freeze loss

Check all radiator hoses and the radiator itself for small leaks. You could try an over the counter stop leak to see if that helps. On big leaks this is not recomended , but in small leaks it could svae your car from losing any more anti freeze.

Change out your thermostat gasket and upper radiator hose. This should fix the problem.
