Is timing belt/chain broken? Red spark is not good--it should be nice fat blue spark. Tested compression?

Car not firing

Most likely the valves were bent.
When you attempt to start the motor does it turns over a bit fast and will not sound quit right - Not even attempt to spark up or fire up.
Check engine cylinder compression. The valves were bent when the belt broke.
you will
1. check compression (and when it fails)
2. decide to have the head checked and if possible rebuilt (use new head bolts)
or
3. Look for and buy a low milage used motor
or
4. Look for a rebuilt head

Engine just quit without warning. No unusual sounds. Starter turns, but engine will not fire

well if the serpetene belt if frayed when was the timing belt last changed if that belt breaks it will not run and would have shut off a sign would be the engine spins over fast on some you can see the camshaft threw the hole where you add the oil if so have someone crank it over while you watch the cam

My 2002 mitsubishi galant stalled while driving yesterday. it does have 196,000 miles, but it had been running very smooth since i got the car. I came up to a stop sign and went to pull out onto the...

if it broke a timing belt or chain it would roll alot faster than normal.. if it just jumped time a notch or two it would still act like it was trying to start.. a chrankshaft sensor is a place to start.. but check to see if its firing first before you replace it because it could be the fuel also.. take a sparkplug out of the car and then plug it on the wire.. take an good insulated pair of pliers and hold the part of the spark plug that your socket goes on against a metal part of your motor.. then have someone roll the vehicle over while you watch the spark plug you can see the spark ti generates if vehicle is firing..if it is firing good then its probably in the fuel system.. hope this helps

I have a 2001 toyota corolla and I want to know if and how to set the timing on the engine since theres no distributor just ignition coils that sit atop of the spark plugs? Please help! respond quickly!! ...

Well if the timing belt hasent been removed and nobody has played with it then the timing shouldent have moved so,, remove the plug leads all 4 and put a old plug in 1 make sure its got a good earth and turn over engine ,,if sparks the firing order is 1342
from the timing belt end,, other wise check the feed into the coils for power in,if none check with Toyota
Let me know how you get on.........Ron
