There is a safety switch that will not allow you to shift it from park unless you apply the brakes sometimes when the battery is low it is not enough to unlock the safety switch try putting jumper cables to it then try and shift it. The other problem you have sounds like the safety nuetral switch this switch will not allow the car to start in any other gear only in park or nuetral. This may be out of adjustment or a bad switch you will need to have it checked. If you still cant get it out of park there should be a small plug next to the shifter you will need to remove this plug and push a screw driver in the hole to manually release the shifter from park. The hole may or may not be plugged but either waqy it should be next to the shifter on the console.Let me know please if this helped you.

Transmittion seems to stick in 2nd/3rd gear. Won't go into OD until you punch it...sometimes feels like it slips into nuetral...1995 Sonoma Vortec V6

Before guessing at transmission problems, check the fluid level (car warmed up, engine running in Park on level ground) and have the PCM scanned for trouble codes FIRST.
1-2 / 2-3 shift is delayed and harsh, may not shift into OD: Check TPS for smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If not, replace.
Start with that and here is a link for obtaining your DTC codes to your Sonoma. http://www.troublecodes.net/GM/
Thank you for using fixy and good luck

I have a 95 cutlass and sometimes it don't start. I turn the ignition and the lights etc come on but that's it. I don't even get any "click" from the starter likes its trying to start. What I have noticed...

I had the same problem with my 1995 Cutlass Supreme. Finally it would not start at all and I noticed the security light on the dash would not go off after I turned the key. It wound up being the ignition switch. I replaced it and no problems. The only trouble is that your old ignition keys do not work with the new switch.

Wont start in Park But will start in Nuetral

Neutral safety switch usually threaded into transmission, unless AW-4 model. Same switch used to trip back-up lights. Look for harness with approx 3-4 wires, unplug & unscrew switch from transmission.

Make sure it is all the way in park, or try starting it in nuetral. could be start/nuetral safety switch if the transmission is automatic.
