Unusual problem, these diffs are not prone to trouble. Most likely was either not set up correctly at the factory or defective parts or leaked and ran low on oil.If they are replacing the whole unit I would not worry, you should be fine.Good Luck!

do you know what gear ratio they are then I suggest using car-part.com to find a local junkyard with the right gear setup you need. and it can be a dirty job. getting the bolts loose will be your hardest problem. and getting a Haynes or Chilton book is a good idea for 20 25 bucks you can read about it before you go doing it and decide its something you might try

Sounds like you may have an issue with your transfer case control module. I am a big fan of using a scan tool for diagnosing things, so if you can get your hands on one, I highly recommend it. It takes guesswork out of fixing things the right way. If you can duplicate the concern and get a scan tool connected at the same time, I would check to see if the scan tool can communicate with the transfer case control module while the problem is present. That will tell you a lot right there. Also check other modules to see if any DTCs related to the 4WD are set. That is also helpful. Or... when the problem occurs, go to the underhood fuse block (driver's side near the battery). Pull the TREC 30 amp fuse for about 20-30 seconds. Plug it back in. See if the problem goes away. If it does, the most likely cause is a logic-lock in the transfer case control module. There may be a software fix for that. If not, the only cure is to replace it.

A technician will need to a parasitic drain test on the electrical system to determine where the battery drain is taking place. Sometimes the glovebox or vanity mirror lamps don't shut off and drain the battery.

Is it really burning blue smoke out the exhaust or leaking out all the wrong places like valve covera and front and rear seals? There is no solution here except find out the cause of the loss and fix it.
