Try an engine flush from auto zone, about$ 6.00 THEN REPLACE THE OIL SENDING UNIT ALONG WITH THE OIL & OIL FILTER

You may need to change the oil filter; if it has become clogged, there will be such a pressure drop across it that the rest of the engine does not receive proper lubrication and the gauge reads low despite the presence of oil. Keep in mind that this gauge reads the oil pressure, not the oil level.
You may also have an issue with the oil pump itself, but the first thing to do is change the oil and filter. Often times, having this done at one of those jiffy lube places or something like that, they will change the oil but not the filter because they are lazy and figure you won't notice the difference.
Good Luck!

Does anybody know what the oil pressure specs for the 2006 crown victoria lx 4.6L at idle and at normal operating temp? Mine is reading between 15 and 25 psi. Has 149,0000 on it.

15 seems low. Ford gives a spec of 40-70 psi with the engine speed @ 2500 rpm engine hot. Most cars I see are around the 25 psi @ idle. If your idle is lower than it should be it will make your pressure lower. This should be a direct reading on a good mechnical engine oil pressure gauge.

Crown victoria making knocking noise

Listen to the engine, if the noise is down low it is rod if it is up high it is valves. IF it is rod knock it will eventually throw the rod.

Motor sounds like a bunch of Indians trying to get out.

sounds to me like you could have damaged the oil pump, running low on oil can cause numerous things to fail.. possibly spun the rod bearings and they are beating on the crank. I wouldn't start it, but if the noise is in the bottom I would drop the oil pan.

I have a 1996 ford crown victoria thats reves up real high and then dies

Sounds like a really bad vacuum leak to me. Check the PCV hose where it goes in behind the throttle body. Those are notorious for the rubber elbows getting all mushy and imploding and getting large holes in them.

The engine is running to fast, the oil gauge is not working nor is the temperature gauge.

check vacuum lines for the high idle. I dont have an answer for the gauges it could be many things. there are not fuses for these so its either the oil sending unit or the wire broke some where and the same for the temp unit.

What happens when oil sending unit goes bad? Oil gauge was floating when I hit my breaks. Engine stopped and won't turn over. It's a 1997 Ford Crown Vic, 4.6L SFI, OHC V*.

cant fake oil pressure, if its ok now don't worry about it. check connector and make sure its on correct and clean. If you start getting low pressure consistanly then get it looked at.

KNOCKING NOISE IS NOT A GOOD SIGN.SOUND IF YOUR ENGINE OIL LEVEL IS CORRECT NOT LOW. SOUND LIKE OIL PUMP AND MAIN BEARING FAILURE.YOU NEED A REBUILT ENGINE OR OVER HAUL.

Bubbling during idling or low speed

you mean 70-80 kph? because in mph that is very fast! check your thermostat, and if its not a problem with the thermostat sticking , it may be a problem with your water pump
