Question about Cadillac DeVille
My first guess would be the ECM or electonic control module, also comparable to a PCM that is used on cars today. You can find an ECM replacement for your vehicle, if you have trouble locating one try an online parts locator, this is a free service. I would like to add considering the age of the vehicle: I would strongly recommend purchasing this part from a provider offering a full warranty. This could save you a lot of frustration as well as money in the long run. I've run in to this problem in the past when buying replacement parts that are no longer manufactured. A seller offering a warranty may cost a little more but offers you potential money pit protection.
And that can be priceless.
