Question about 2003 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

2003 Ford Expedition XLT acts like it is starving for fuel. It starts up just fine but once going down the road it then hesitates and wants to bogg down. It has a really hard time on an incline. What could be causing this problem?

You need to install new spark plugs every 70,000 miles

If that was done, then you have a worn out TPS Sensor,
and possibly a bad COP Igniton Coil as well

You will get 1 or 2 coils a year go bad

If it is just on hills, when you have a high vacuum load,
then check out the EGR Valve

Acts like it's starved for gas, starts good but hardly goes 25mph. boggs down when you try to go faster

Have you checked the fuel pressure, if not do that and also run a fault codes test on the engine control module.

Try resetting fuel pump. I do believe the reset button is on the forward passengers side of vehicle. The button is behind the plastic shield. Reset once or twice. This hopefully will fix your problem. Look in your manual for exact placement of fuel pump reset button

1990 f150 w/5.8 FI motor, idles good, take on road, it boggs down

Have you changed the tps? The tps is like a dimmer switch with the idle being the lowest setting and everything above that being progressively stronger. If the switch is bad it will not advance spark or gas flow.
