Yes it should not affect anything other than your radio presets and similar stuff like that you may have to input a code to use the radio again but i am not sure about that on the impala.

Does anybody had this problem on a 2000 Honda accord it drives good for about 15 miles then when you turn it off then restart it car the check engine light comes on then it run rough then I pul out th

Have you changed batteries lately? Sometimes a new battery can make the car's computer go haywire which affects the info sent to the fuel system. How new/old are your battery cables? Have you tried a mixture of baking soda and water poured on the terminals to eat away the acidic build up that affects electrical connection. Its possible that when you turn it off enough residue builds up with heat-arcing-interaction with alternator, etc. Get you computer's error code read to you from a shop that can link to it and see if it reveals the answer to your problem. Never underestimate a battery's ability to goof up your vehicle. :)

I have a 2002 polaris magnum 325. I put a new starter, ignition switch, relay that goes to the starter and a new battery. It will turn over, but won't start. The starter is engaging also. It will pull...

Since you can start with the pull starter, and not when you crank with electric starter, assuming this machine has electronic ignition it is quite possible that the battery lead in not making good contact with the battery and there is a big voltage drop low enough to affect the ignition system due to the high current drawn by the starter. Try cleaning and retightening both battery leads and the ground lead. Also check the power cable running to the ignition system. Also check for corrosion near the ground connection on the chasis.

Trouble starting had startor motor replaced smething is draining battery 12 v cranking voltage 6 volts

something electrical may be remaining on like a light somewhere that you dont normally see like a trunk light that should be off, also could be something with a blown fuse with power still going to the relay area (but it wouldnt affect anything because of the blown fuse)

How to bypass immobilizer

the problem of immersion with a battery connected is that all electrical circuits are affected by electrolysis and power flows everywhere
items like the alternator , ECM , sensors, dash gauges and equipment will all be affected
Transmissions will have water in the oil and engines will have mud in the rings and bearings
to get it operational you will have to replace a number of faulty items and the end result may be extremely costly
Better to claim on insurance if you have it and take the car to the wreckers

My 2000 Caravan developed this problem after our hard winter so I searched and found that tapping the alternator might reveal that the brushes were intermittent. Sure enough, a slight tap caused the charging voltage to come on at around 14 Volts. A new brush assembly was under $10 on eBay and after finally getting the alternator out and the brushes replaced, re-installed all was well!

The overdrive kicks out intermittently with no perceivable reason on my 1992 Dodge ram Diesel.

Believe it or not the most likely cause is a weak battery or batterys, and/or dirty battery cables. It causes electrical noise in electrical system which affects the computer. Test each battery indepentantly and clean all of the battery cables and grounds and see if that helps.

Electrical short or loose connection

did this problem start after the new alternator or is this the reason you replaced the alternator? sounds like a loose wire on the alternator or the battery post. make sure the battery terminals are clean from corrosion. if there is a hot spot on the wires or connectors that is a good sign that is a loose connection.
