Question about 2001 Kia Optima

1 Answer

Hello, my Kia optima 2001 has an auto tranny, the problem is that the car makes rough shifts to 1st gear from a complete stop, it jumbles a little then it recovers and drives normally until a new stop is made, the worst symptom is when i made a complete stop in an uphill, the car just rumbles and revs up but i feel no traction at all even when gas pedal is fully depressed, so i have to reverse downhill...please help

I would recommend that you have the fluid and filter changed, and put some Seafoam transmission repair in it, Seafoam is the best thing that you can use for a transmission, it will free a stcky valve body, and condition all of the moving parts, freeing them of grime that causes transmission damage and slipping, and hard shifting, you can get it at just about any auto parts store.

This is not what you want to hear, but its time to replace or rebuild the transmission. The clutch packs are worn causing your slipping concern. and your fluid is probably contaminated with the clutch material which can cause hydraulic circuit failure.

Rough shifting automatic transmission on Honda Accord from 1st to 2nd gear

it has a problem with the second gear drum it cracks and does not fully engauge the n shifts to 3rd ..many honda owners also learn the 8 bucks a quart is the only fluid to pour in a honda..but remember 3 qaurts per drain and fill the tranny holds 7q will take a case to do a drain flush...a high pressure flush will ruin a automatic tranny with alot of miles or metal deposits floating around inside..DRAIN AND FILL 3 QUARTS AT A TIME NO GASKET NEEDED ITS BUILT AND DESIGNED LIKE A MANUAL TRANNY
