Question about Chevrolet Impala

Open Question

The 12V accessory plug for my 2004 Impala is not working. The ciggerette lighter does work however. There does not seem to be any issues with the fuses for this vehicle.

Most likely just replace it. You could pull the fuse and then use a small screwdriver to try and pull the tabs inside the receiver in toward the center a little. It could be that repeated insertion and extraction of the lighter or accessory plug has bent them outward enough that they're not making sufficient contact to power what you plug in. If that doesn't work, replace it and then put the fuse back in.

The cigarette lighter is connected to a harness that's being the unit. You need to most likely remove the panel that the cigarette lighter is attached to in order to remove the lighter unit out. Once the unit is out, disconnect the wiring harness to exchange it. I don't know how exactly your lighter will come out

There is a 15A in-line fuse connected to the cigarette lighter relay. 7.5A ACC RELAY FUSE 8 in the driver's underdash fuse/relay box supplies power to the cigarette lighter relay coil.

I don't have a solution for this problem(yet) but have the exact same issue with a 2005 Silverado. All fuses are good and the cigarette lighter outlet works fine. I am looking to get my hands on a copy of the wiring diagram for this truck. I suspect that there is an inline fuse somewhere in the system that has blown but haven't been able to locate. If anyone has a copy of the service(or Haynes) manual for this truck, I would appreciate a copy of the wiring diagram that shows the accessory outlet.

Ciggerette lighter not working.

It would be either under the dash or open the drivers door and it would be on the side of the dash. Your manual will tell you exactly which one to check. If you dont have the manual you will have to do a visual inspection.

I had the same problem. The fuse for the accessory plugs are not in the fuse box above the drivers feet it is in the group of fuses just above it. The owners manual describes it as location #16. It is a 15v fuse.
