You should have brakes, you most likely won't have the assistance of ABS which works similiar to pumping the pedal for you in a skid stop.

This light is notifying you that you anti-lock brake system has encountered a problem. Check your brake fluid level first if its low then add fluid to the fill line. If brake fluid was needed but the lighjt still came on after you topped it off the light is warning you of a more serious problem. Places like Meinike, Budget Brakes, Midas, or similiar shop specializing in brake services offer free brake inspections. However I would suggest taking it to more than one shop for a free inspection if you get a astonomical repair estimate from the first shop you take it to. It's always a good idea to get a second opinion before you nearly have to take out a loan for brake repair service.

ABS light occasionally comes on, only when making a turn. I stop, turn off motor and restart. It's fine and may not happen again for a few days. Until I get to a mechanic, is it safe to drive?

Yes she is still safe to drive. If the light is on, the abs system is disabled and the brakes revert to standard type brakes, meaning they may lock up during hard or emergency stops.

The abs light is on and I want to know is it still safe to drive? and what does service esc mean and service traction ison in my hhr is it still safe to drive while Im waiting to get it fixed

the abs light is on because it is telling you that the abs system has a fault in one of the sensors, also with the light on it means that the abs is disabled. the traction control and esc are on because they are linked to the abs

Is the car safe to drive when the ABS, Service and the Traction Control OFF lights are on?

Truthfully, yes. But not as safe with the ABS and traction control systems working properly. The ABS system probably just needs a new sensor (located on the inside of the wheel) they are very easy to fix yourself if you want to take it on, just reply back and I can tell you how. The traction control is off because the ABS system is not working properly and it will not work until you fix the ABS. Depending on why the Service light is on may be another problem entirely, so I would take it to your local car parts place to see why the light is on, if it's related to the brakes, then it's all one thing. If it is something else, the car may not be safe to drive related to the engine light. I hope this helps! Good Luck

ABS warning light on, could it be freezing weather? is it safe to drive

ABS light on likely means that one of the sensors is not sending the right signal to the ABS Brake Module. So, standard braking exists as a consequence. It should be less safe to drive with this condition, but can be driven if you pump your brakes manually on slick roads.

2006 Town & Country ABS light stays on

when the abs light comes on your car is letting you know that it has shut down the abs system because of a problem. so you are braking with regular conventional brakes which is perfectly safe. any time a component of the antilock brake system malfuntions the abs system is shut off and the light will come on to let you know. the most common problem is that the wheel speed sensors go bad. a trouble code will be stored in the abs control module you can have the abs module scanned to see what the problem may be. But dont worry you car is safe to drive. you just dont have the antilock brake option.
