Question about Audi A6

1 Answer

Can anyone tell me where the B1S1 oxygen sensor in a 2004 Audi A6 3.0 Quattro is located and how difficult it will be for a DIY job? This is the pre-cat sensor on the passenger side. My CEL came on and showed the code for this O2 sensor as well as 2 cylider misfires. I just replaced all the ignition coils and spark plugs thinking this was the problem as the CEL was blinking before. Now CEL is on steady, but same codes. Chris

B1S1 = Bank 1 Sensor1. The Bank 1 is the right side bank of the cylinder block, (passenger side for LHD - Left Hand Drive vehicles). The Sensor 1 is the upstream heated oxygen sensor (HO2S). See pictures below.
B1S1 is located on no.# 27 in the picture below. About easy access to it never done one on this vehicle looks like you can do it from the top.

As many have found H02S sensors on audi's go out much earlier than the 100k that Bosch says they should last. I got a 4 wire universal for Murrays i think it was ~$120. I also needed a set of ramps (~$35). The B1/S2 and B2/S2 sensors are fairly easy to replace, the B1S1's however look much more difficult. First off is location of the sensors is B1 (Bank 1) is passenger side, and B2 (Bank 2) is driver's. S1 is the front sensor (found on the headers) and S2 is the rears (found on the cats). As far as colors of the plugs: the green and brown are the rear, the black are the fronts. The black plugs correspond to the side of the sensor. 3 are on the passenger side and the last is on the drivers. See pictures below:

Final tips: make sure you follow directions that came with your universal sensor when splicing the wires. The wires are held on along the tranny by little clips I pulled these out and more or less destroyed them so they're not there.

Can anyone tell me where the oxygen sensor is located on a 2012 chevrolet equinox 4cylinder

heated oxygen sensors(HO2S) are located in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe before the cat converter
oxygen sensors (O2S) are located after the cat converter
they are not the same items and do different jobs

LOCATION OF B1S1 SENSOR FOR 2002 AUDI A6 QUATTRO

Referencing oxygen sensor or O2 sensor or 'lambda sensor':

B1S1 is 'bank 1', which is the passenger side cylinder bank on a V6 or V8.

S1 is the 'upper' or 'upstream' sensor, closest to the cylinder.

Where can I fine the oxygen sensor B1S1?

B1S1 is Bank 1 sensor 1 which means bank 1 is the side of the engine with the # 1 cylinder and would be the 1rst or closest sensor in the exhaust to that side of the engine

2004 audi tt 3.2 quattro auto intermittant start-up when cold, like not firing on all cyls.but with engine revving for a few minutes will then run ok.

Hi
If it runs lumpy when you first start it then it will be one of 2 faults, either the air mass sensor also known as the MAF sensor or the EGR "exhaust gas recycler" valve are you getting any engine lights? normally with the EGR you would but no so often with the air mass sensor.

Lastly it could be the 02 or oxygen sensor but check the other 2 first
Regards
Dan

p.s get a daignostic code and I will tell you the exact fault

I have an audi 3.0l 2002 audi a4 avant quattro. I printed out a paper stating i could reset my oxygen sensor warning light ( check engine light ). I have torn my car apart looking for the letters oxs near...

The dealer has to "reflash" your 02 sensor light. On some Audi's, the dealer has to reset the O2 code first and if it comes on again, then they will need to replace the cat convertors.
