It sounds like you need to replace a belt. Probably the fan belt. Make sure the car is NOT running and check under the hood. Usually a bad or worn belt can be easily spotted if it appears cracked, overly dry, or if the edges of the belt are curled up. If they appear to be in good condition you may need to adjust the pulley tension. Or if you would like a quick but temporary fix, you can buy a bottle of belt dressing at the auto part store. This does not fix the problem it only provides short term "symptom" relief.

I have a whining noise on my corsa d 1.4 sxi when I turn left of centre

Check your power steering pump; it may be failing or maybe it's loose on a side making it squeak when you turn; as the belt slips on other pulleys. Also check and ensure all your wheel arms are in good condition.

Makes whining noise

This could be a stuck Bendix gear. The Bendix gear is the gear that engages with the flywheel on the engine when you start the car, and if it hasn't retracted it will whine.

Check with a local garage, but do so soon.

1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse whining noise from the rear when accelerating

A whining noise during acceleration usually, is from the gear set, indicating the pinion is too close to the ring gear.
I believe the eclipse is a FWD car though. Could it be the transmission you are hearing?

I have a 2002 chevy surburban and it makes a whining noise.

the noise happens running down the road or parked? Is the car a four wheel drive? The alteanator can go bad and whine, the wheel bearings can go bad and whine, windows not fitting right can make a whine The altenator will stop whining if it's unplugged, if this fixes it the battery and the altenater need tested and a bad battery can make the altenator whine and it still be OK. Don't run the engine with the battery disconnected as this can blow alot of expensive stuff and the altenator.

I have a loud whining noise coming from my ac compressor. i have a 98 cadillac deville and it makes the whining noise even if the ac is off. it makes that noise the whole time the car is running

The A/C compressor constantly turns because the pulley is connected into the serpentine system. The whining noise is pretty indicative of a low charge in the A/C system. I would start by having your A/C pressure checked and charged if needed.

Whining in the engine

I had the same whining noise, but after a minute or two it would go away. It turned out to be my water pump. It wouldnt turn first thing in the morning and the belt was just running through the pulley, (causing the whining noise). This may not be your problem, but it is easy to check. Just pop your hood and see if the fan is turning.
