Question about 2003 Renault 181
For your safety and security only the dealer service department can reset any of the security features on the newer model cars. You can't even replace a lost key without providing the VIN number and proper identification. The biggest majority of cars made in the last 10 years have a transponder chip in the key. Sometimes though not often the chips can go bad. Calling the dealer service department can usually clear up if your car is equipped with the transponder. Usually if it's just the chip they can get you fixed up in less than an hour and without to much damage to your checkbook.
