The upper radiator hose is connected to it. Follow the hose and youll find the thermostat housing. You may have to move the coil pack to get to the housing to change out the thermostat. I found a quick step by step here:
Hope this helps you...

Hi Lee,could be a bad thermostat not opening fully,or a bad bearing in your water pump causing antifreeze not to recirculate properly,or your radiator is clogged and needs blown out.

No Like most thermostats they are a very simple device with a spring that is normally closed and as water temp goes up it opens.

Why is my 2006 ford focus overheating after changing the thermostat?

New thermostat could be bad. But it sounds like the cooling fan is not coming on. The thermo sensor that activates the fan might be bad when the engine over heated. It is usually in the cylinder head or the thermostat housing or the engine block. Pretty sure it is in the cylinder head but it is controled by the ECM. Hope this answers your question. Make sure you do not have a air blockage after changing your thermostat.

Replace thermostat

No there is no reason at all for only a thermostat . yhey are time consuming yes but not that time consuming. i have been a Ford tech for almost 10 years. And have chaged multiple thermostats on these vehicles. If they are charging that much they ate doing morr than a thermostat or something is fishy.
