With the engine running it should be between 13.8 and 14.2 volts approx. 11.5 would indicate that it is not charging and that the altenator requires repair or replacement.

I have a suzuki swift 1998. I first noticed a fault on my main beams one day whilst driving . I went to flick them on and all lights went off. They came back on eventually, but could have been dangerous....

Mine did that and we found the ground wire to the lights was not making contact.like it should. We ran a new wire and fastened it right to the engine itself and now everything works. Make sure all your cables are tight and clean both ends as well.

Go to the salvage yard and have them use the parts cross reference book to confirm this will work. I would say yes, but confirm that.

My dad purchased a suzuki swift new in 2009 from garage and it is now on its 3rd battery. The garage just replace the battery with a new one. What could be causing the battery to go flat

1- battery with low voltage or out of charge for several days 2- excessive usage of electrical equipment esp. the lights while the engine off 3- low battery fluid level 4- and rarely, hyper voltage supplied to the bat. 5- check the dynamo belt (loose)

Everytime the car is started hot or cold the alternator belt screems momentary and goes away. the car has a new battery fitted and the alternator has had new bearings, regulator, diode module (four pin reg)...

I would first try replacing the belt. These normally last about 5 to 7 years. It may be somewhat glazed, allowing it to slip under load. If that does not work, you might need to replace the tensioner pulley.

My 89 GTi battery light came on and then the

If the alternator is bad, and it is cause battery light is on, the elec. system does not have enough power (voltage) for the system to work right, being that it's only working off the battery voltage till battery goes weak. Have an alternator check done or check voltage at battery with engine running, should have no less then 13.5 volt's.

It's probably the door light. This is a common problem and more can be found at TEAM SWIFT. You can disconnect the wire from the door jamb or turn the dome light to the off position. TEAM SWIFT has this common fix more in detail.
