I have a 1991/92 Subaru Brumby Ute and hope you can help as nobody seems to be able to fix the problem. It runs perfectly until it gets up normal temperature, if it's switched off and you go to restart it, it will start but wont run, once it cools down it is fine again. When you put your foot on the accelerateor the first barrel dosen't kick in but it you hold the accelerator down when the 2nd barrel kicks in it will rev out. Pease help!!!

You probably need to check the compression it sounds like the rings on your pistons are bad. I'm not sure about where you live, but my local auto parts store offers a free tool loaning program. You usually can borrow a compression checker from them, if it's not already loaned out.

My 1992 Subaru Brumby Ute stalls each time I pull up or stop.

expose the carburetor throat and start the engine keeping it running with your hand on the throttle. try and control the idle at its lowest possible rpm and look inside the throat. if it is showing ANY dripping fuel or even wet flaps then it is stalling because of too much fuel and the carb. will have to be cleaned or serviced.

My brumby lacks power when towing

Advancing the timing is only an advantage when you are setting up a rebuilt engine. If you only have a problem when towing, It is probably because you are trying to tow a load greater than your car can reasonably be expected to handle. Your car will have a "Safe Towing Weight" Reset the timing to the correct setting and keep the towed load within the limits set by Subaru. If you continue you will either kill your engine by holing a piston or fry your clutch.

I have a 19992 Subaru Brumby which loses ignition spark

its quite possibly the crank angle sensor as they do this when they heat up,the car wont start, till it cools down, you can get the resistance checked on it to see if its ok,but you will need someone with experience to do it but its not a hard job
