Check under the dash for the switch hooked to the brake pedal assembly, this switch activates your brake lights, push the brake pedal with your hand does the plunger on the switch move? if not see if you can pull it down if you pull it down see if your brake lights are on if yes replace switch. if no, check it for power with a twelve volt test light, if you have power replace the switch. if no power check the fuse for brakes lights see your owners manual for location. Good luck.
My friend this sounds like a catalytic converter problem. A number one symptom in the case of a "burned up" catalyst is loss of power or as you put it bogged down. Try disconnecting at the flange if not too much trouble or simply remove the O2 sensor downstream and see if pressure changes (old trick)
i Dont Know Where Its Located On Your Car But There Is A Safety Switch On The Gear Gearshift That Keeps It From Being Put in A Gear Unless The Brake pedal Is Pushed Im Not Sure If The Activaton Switch Is Tied In With The Brake Light Switch But Check And See If your Brake lights Work If They Dont Change The Switch Its Under Dash on The Brake Pedal If They Still Work Then The Switch For The Safety Release on Shifter Is A seperate Switch It Should Be Close To The Brake light Switch At The Brake Pedal
Hope This Works For You
This is not a bogging down problem if the engine is reving up it sounds like you have a very badley slipping tourk converter or you have a band in your tranny slipping and that is why you can go for a little while longer if you shut it off
