Sounds like a vacuum leak. check your hoses running from the intake manifold and look for cracked, broken, or disconnected fittings.

That kind of engine speed change is usually caused by a vacuum leak, most likely around the intake manifold.

Noise sounds like a metallic chirp from valve train.

To narrow it down, while the engine is running, don't get near moving parts, you can use a long piece of steel, metal, put 1 end on the valve cover, the other to your ear and listen for rattling. You can move it around to narrow down the source of the noise. It's like a stethoscope but works well. I use a 3' long screwdriver.

No real answer to the first half of your question, but I do know that when you are revving the engine to 5,000 rpm in neutral you are hitting the engine's rev limit. It is most likely not related to your original complaint.

2004 jeep grand cherokee idling problem. Revs motor 200 to 500 rpms higher while driving.

I had the exact same problem on my 04 GC. I put some Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner in from Wal-Mart and it seemed to fix the problems right away. Let me know.
