Question about 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier

2 Answers

I have a 2003 cavalier. I have power windows. The passenger side window although slowly does go down. When closing the window it will go up stop then after giving it several minutes goes up a little more stops then repeat the steps until all the way closed. Am i safe to say this is motor or could it be another issue. Thank you,

Maybe your motor just need the connections taken off and sprayed down with wd/40 to help the connection. Is this happening on the driver side? if so try useing the passenger side button and see if it opperates same way, it;s a different window motor> good luck to you.

I am currently having the same problem. 2003 cavalier 2 door. I finally just replaced the drivers side window regulator. And it works fine alot faster and smoother then the passenger side. The only pain is that you have to drill out some rivets that they used from factory to remove it and then replace it using small screws and some lock tight. Now i just have to find the time to do the same to the passenger side window which is doing the same thing. It will go down but stop all the time when going up until you wait a few minutes.

Make sure all your Fuses are good... The window motors could be going bad. But I'd check the fuses if they just stopped working without any signs of beings slow or being worn out.

Low/no power to passenger window.

More than likely you have a bad switch. You can try to pry the switch apart and clean the contacts inside. Usually the passenger side switch is pretty inexpensive, around $25-$35. The switches get dirty inside from dirt or water dripping when it rains and the window is opened or if someone might have spilled something on it.

My power windows either activate slowly, go down but will get stuck going down or up, and will have to wait various amount of time before it will go back up (slowly). 2003 chevy cavalier

you might try cleaning the window channels where the glass sides in the door frame..with some form of air pressure then coat the runners with 100% silicone spray which will make that glass slide up and down with greater ease

Passenger side window dont go fully up

Hi.
Sounds like the "anti-pinch" mechanism is coming into action on the drivers side.
If the window encounters any resistance when closing it will stop.
Check the window seal for damage and correct fitment, make sure there is nothing obstructing the glass. If you are OK with the seal and channels at either side and the window is going up an down "square", try some lubricant in the channels either side with the window in the down position and operate a few times.

Passenger side. The motor for the window must have been disconnected from battery voltage at some time and it has lost its reference points. That is, where to start and stop.
Nudge the window near to the top, but not closed, then close the window holding the switch down for at least 5 seconds. Then open the window and hold the switch down as before.
You may have to do this more than once.

There should be a section in your owners manual covering this procedure.

I don't think the two problems are connected physically.

2003 Nissan Maxima. Passenger power window problem

Same problem on passenger door 92,000 miles. Dealer said he can reset the regulator inside the door by pressing button. I am looking for more information on this problem too. He estimates 1/2 hr (~$50) to do work.
