This is a very common problem with this vehicle, they have redesigned the fuel level sensor for it. Unfortunately the sensor is located inside of the fuel tank attached to the fuel pump, you will have to remove the fuel pump from inside of the tank and replace the sensor which will require you to drain and remove the fuel tank first, or take it to a repair facility

1990 Buick Century Custom 4-Dr Sedan 3300 V6. New motor, fuel pump, fuel filter, alternator and starter. Turns over, though it won't fire.

Check your fuel pressure at the schraeder valve that is on the fuel rail. If you have fuel pressure, check for spark. If no spark, then ignition diagnosis is needed. If no fuel pressure, check for diconnected, or pinched wires, as this can easily happen during an engine swap.

My gas guage quit working. Have been told I need a new fuel level sensor, but was also told this is a common problem with 2001 buick century cars. True? Have there been any recalls for this? How much should...

Yes this is a common problem but not just Buicks Centurys but most G.M.cars and trucks and a few other makes and models. No recalls that I have seen. Can be about 200.00 or so plus labor depending on the labor rate and what part of the country your in.Prices could vary.Hope this helps.Good luck.
