Hello: If the code was for a converter stuck off it will affect your fuel mileage. If you just do city driving you will probably not notice any difference. If the code was for converter stuck on you would know it when you stop, the car would act like a manual transmission trying to stop without pushing the clutch in

If the light comes back on you may have to change the TCC valve.(inside the transmission)

Check Engine Light P0740. Car stalls when starting (occasionally), and the transmission slips when stopped.

This code is set when the transmission control module detects improper voltage at the torque converter clutch. This can be caused by low tranny fluid/dirty tranny fluid/defective torque converter clutch solenoid/electrical connections to from solenoid

Car was parked on a slant for two weeks while I was away. when I started it on my return the engine light came and stayed on and the car has slow pick up and stutters somewhat...no strange noises, ho

Best to have a local shop read the computer error code from the car's OBD. My guess it has nothing to do with the parking slant. More likely a fouled O2 sensor or worn out catalytic converter. Could even be a loose or poorly sealing gas cap.

Just sold my 2002 GLS AWD with 291,912 miles. Still runs great... doesn't burn a bit of oil between 5,000 mile changes.

P0742 torque converter clutch circuit stuck on

Ok, The other day I had a "service Engine Soon" light. The car was shifting really hard, and slamming into each gear. I have found that if I pull over, take my code reader and plug it in, I get a PO742 code. Torque converter circuit stuck on. I proceed to erase that code from the computer, and restart the car and it will run and drive totally fine, as if nothing is wrong. I have been doing it this way for 3 years and the car is running fine to this day. It hasn't cost me a dime in repairs, and I commute 500 miles/week. It's worth a try, because I have heard that if you spend 800-900 bucks to get it "fixed", the problem WILL return some day.

No problem the service engine light is on and I am told it reads torque converter

Sounds like P0741 code. Run a self diagnostic. If this is your code, it will likely trigger the check engine light when you're driving at around 80 km/h (overdrive fails). If you're still running, your torque converter clutch is probably stuck on. The fix require the tranny to be opened up and a solenoid changed (14 - 20hrs labour). If you can live with the light coming on and slightly worse fuel economy, then let it be. Make sure you check the codes yourself to be sure. And get it serviced if you notice any change in the way she drives.

Yellow check engine light came on; code; P0741 refers to possible torque converter problem. car runs fine. what else could it be?

Audi code P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off, THIS IS IN MOST CASES A STUCK TORQUE CONVERTER LOCK UP CLUTCH, U MAY NOT EVEN NOTICE THIS AS ALL GEARS WILL WORK JUST NO TORQUE CONVERTER LOCK UP, U WILL NEED TO VERIFY THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH CIRCUIT IS OK AND IF SO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER.

Check engine light on for sometime; Response to throttle sluggish

If your catalytic converter is "below efficiency" or otherwise clogged, you will lose power as you drive and the vehicle heats. The more you drive the vehicle, the worse the problem will become. The exhaust can't escape properly through the catalytic converter, therefore your engine won't run properly. Your issues are related, and if you replace your catalytic converter they should go away.

02 Chrysler Town and Country Service Engine Light

If your torque converter is starting to come apart it could cause severe damage to the rest of the transmission. If it is affordable I would try a second opinion though.
