Question about 2007 Suzuki XL-7

Chinese scooter I know its not a car but there is not a catergory for scooters.Yes I know Chinese!! Going down the road, slow, maybe 20mph. I hear like a small ting ting almost like back fire. It stopped when I stopped. Then on the main highway up to 45 mph it felt as though it was struggling to get gas then bam, it felt as though the "belt " had broke. No power could not get it started. It reminded me of years ago when a timing belt had gone in in my car. Any ideas. I am waitng for the place that I bought it to open so that I can call them. I am a girl so please make your answers "girl" friendly. Thanks ever so much. And yes I probably am going to sell this and get a "real" bike. Don't need the headache.Mj

Hey Mj, you seem to know your stuff--it sounds like the drive belt broke. You can get a repair manual on amazon for approx. $15 plus shipping. It would be a great help w/ pictures and how to maintain and fix the scooter. But if you're going to dump it, u probably shouldn't invest in it. I don't know the exact model you have, but belts seem to run $20 and up. Unfortunately I don't know how difficult it is to replace. I'm sure it"s a $100 fix @ the shop.
Good Luck! countrycurt0

Why do I get chinese characters in my display?

Yes it does sound crazy... Not knowing your make, model or year of car, I would say, If it were (MY CAR), someone hacked into the onboard computer. I'd take it to the dealer and ask them to reflash the computer with all the latest updates, if the tell you there isn't any updates, tell them you want the system reflashed'll cost you between $50 - $150.

You are listed under the wrong catagory. This is a Cars and Trucks section, and Fixya has a Motorcycle section where you are more likely to get an Expert answer.

Sport scooter md150t-6 manual scooter

Most Chinese scooters don't have a good service manual specifically for them, but manuals for similar models or for that engine platform (should be GY6 150 in this case) will work fine for most tasks. You can find some manuals at

New water pump and thermostat also flushed radiator and backflushed the heater core. Only heats up to 170 heat goes away once you slow down. When running down the road it has some heat but not near hot...

Sounds like your new thermostat is not closing properly. Been hearing ALOT of problems w/new thermostats - sounds like alot of chinese made are flooding the market. It sounds like you did everything right..
