Question about Subaru Legacy

1 Answer

Car misses at least a few times when I drive it and DIES sometimes while I'm driving. This is EXTREMELY dangerous as the car is an automatic and has to be put into park or neutral to try and restart. NOT GOOD when on a highway, etc. This has been happening since I owned the car for the last six months. Only had 50,000 miles when I got it and all appears to be in good shape. Even mechanics have looked it over and can't find anything wrong. Now my "check engine" light is on. When it died while driving last night, when I restarted a message about "oil temp" came on for about ten seconds. Check engine light has not gone off. Latest advice: get the codes.

Starts and runs about three seconds then dies ignition must be shut off for car to restart then runs three seconds and dies again.

Sometimes this can be caused if you are not using a "chip key" if one is required by your car. If you had a copy of your key made and it was not programmed the car would disable itself after three seconds of attempting to drive the car without the proper key (antitheft feature). If that's the case a properly programmed key will automatically work and no reset is normally required.
In an extremely rare case a programmed chip key can fail and you will get the same symptoms.

1996 chevy k1500 runs when idleing slight miss drives down the road fine but when comming to a stop it dies

When the light flashes it means a cylinder misfire, so you must check everything, spark, (first) injector fuel delivery intake manifold vacuum leaks and compression if not other problem accounts for the misfire.

What does the (!) sign that appears in red means? and can i still driving the car after its appear?

There are several ! signs on the dash, and they all signal a failure that makes the driving risky. The ! sign in what appears to be in between parenthesis ( and ) is a warning sign for the brake failure - driving the car in this condition is extremely dangerous.
Tow the car to the nearest repair shop. If you can't tow it then drive it there extremely slowly and with a hand on the hand brake - the main brakes can fail any minute now.
