Does the fan work at all? - there is a fan which blows the warm/cold air into the car. If there is no air going into the car when stationary but there is cold air coming in through the vents then it's proberbly the fan. I had this problem in my A4 and apparently its common for them to fail. The fan is behind the glove box and is held on by six (I think) hex head screws. It took me about 3 hrs to replace and now it's sorted. Best to do it yourself as Audi werew going to charge me £250 to replace it. When it only cost me £60

Where is the fitting to refill the air conditioner. The suggested hose onlly fits one fitting and will not serure itself. Please advise,

i would suggest taking your tahoe to a certified air conditioning specialist, the problem may not be that it low on refridgerent and there are legal risks if you get caught releasing any type of refridgerent into the atmosphere.

that said, if you still want to do it yourself, look for the fitting closest to your condensor, it should be the low pressure side connection, and intall the refridgerent as a gas only, turning the can upside down to make it go faster would introduce liquid into your system at the wrong place and cause your compressor to lock up or break.

hope i was able to help you, good luck!

Rear a/c blower works but it does not get cold

There is a second condensor in that van for the rear A/C. have your refridgerant (r-12) level checked. may need to have the system evacuated and refilled. if an air pocket has lodged in there, that would prevent the refridgerant from circulating through the condensor. could also be an indication of a leak in the system.

Air conditioner quit working

first thing to check is loss of gas pressure due to leaks , this is the most common failure.

if gas is good then could be a number if things , compressor , climate controller unit , bad wiring or connections somewhere.

Air conditioner isn't blowing cold air

Could be a number of things...electrical connections causing the compressor not to run. Turn on AC and turn your thermostat all the way to cool...now visually check to see if compressor is engaged and not just free wheeling. Most likely you lost your refridgerant due to leak in the system...would need to find leak and repair then have your system re-charged with refridgerant. Best case scenario...your system just needs a charge of refridgerant due to not having enough.

My air went out...

My 2001 limited did the same thing. I bought a refridgerant refill kit from Walmart and plugged it in, but it showed that the level of refridgerant was fine. Turns out the AC belt had come off. I found it laying in the skid plate. My auto shop charged me $25 for a new belt and putting it on.

Air conditioner blows hot air, checked coolant and it is full

There are a few different possibilities for a vehicle doing this. A low refridgerant level can, or a temp control on the dash is not operating properly.

It's probably an r-12 unit. If you don't have a license to handle freon, you'll have to take it to a shop. It will need to be totally purged, vacuumchecked & refilled.
