You remove the neg battery before you start, the only proble is you should have the new computer flash programed first, there are many part stores that will program it for you, not sure if you are going new or used.i have have repleced a few with used and they just plug in and work but the mileage is wrong and the vin # is wrong if you dont care about that then plug and play. if you have a problem which sometimes happens then you will need the dealer to program the computer for you, but you will still save alot by doing it reself, check with who you are buying it from they should ask for the vin # and the mileage and they will program it for you and if thats the case then theres no problem, install and connect the battery and start it, you may have to use the gas pedal to get it started and hold it at idle for a few minute and then let gas go, this is just until the computer relearns the idle, you dont have to hold the gas at exactly the idle speed just hold it to keep it running you can hold it around 1000 rpms doesnt matter. good day,

Do you have to get the bcm flashed or reprogrmed every time the battery goes dad on a 2006 buck lucern

All systems should reset after disconnecting and reconnecting a good charged battery. However, before going any further you should remove the dead battery, have it checked and either replace it or charge it out of the vehicle. Then, install it and see if that works. If not, you probably will have to replace the BCM. Jump starting a dead battery is a very bad idea unless it is done very carefully, and even then, it can cause damage to modules.

BCM in 2005 Saturn Vue

Remove the radio bezel. Refer to Radio Replacement .
Disconnect the body control module (BCM) electrical harnesses.
Remove the BCM from the instrument panel (I/P) retainer:
3.1. Pry the BCM tabs from the locking tabs on the underside of the restraint.
3.2. Slide the BCM out of the retainer

The BCM needs to be programmed if replaced !
The body control module (BCM) must be programmed with the proper RPO configurations. The BCM stores the information regarding the vehicle options and if the BCM is not properly configured with the correct RPO codes, the BCM will not control all of the features properly. Ensure that the following conditions exist in order to prepare for BCM programming:
• The battery is fully charged.
• The ignition switch is in the ON position.
• The data link connector (DLC) is accessible.
• All disconnected modules and devices are reconnected before programming.
The following procedures need to be performed to properly configure a BCM:

Some lights stay on when the key is removed like the gear indicator light. What can cause this and can I add a battery toggle so I dont have to disconnect the battery every time I leave the car

I wouldn't do that given the complexity of electronic modules an data bus communication networks on this vehicle . Disconnecting batteries can cause modules to go to sleep an not wake back up . The ignition switch is an input to the BCM - body control module , the BCM turns on relays powering up systems on the vehicle .
The BCM executes the high power mode by grounding the controlled power relay coil control circuit of the CONTROLLED POWER relay whenever the BCM is awake. This circuit also is grounded for 15 minutes after you turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position in order to obtain the RAP function. After 15 minutes elapse, the BCM enter a sleepstate and transitions to the low power mode. The components under controlled power then receive any necessary voltage from the battery positive voltage circuit of the BCM. If the BCM is in the low power mode, and the BCM detects that the current exceeds approximately 2 amperes, the BCM wakes up and re-enters the high power mode. If the vehicle remains inactive with the ignition in the LOCK position and without any BCM wake-ups for a period of 3 days, the BCM deactivates the low power mode. The following components are under controlled power: There are probably DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the BCM . A simple code reader can not read these , an has nothing to do with the check engine light . Battery Disconnect or Replacement Problems You may have been lucky so far disconnecting the battery .

What tools are needed to replace BCM?

Important: Perform new BCM setup when you replace Body Control Module (BCM). Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration .
Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
Remove the left instrument panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
Disconnect the BCM electrical connectors.
Push the BCM up and move the bottom of the BCM away from and out of the mounting bracket slot in order to remove the BCM.
During Body Control Module (BCM) related service, the procedures below are designated to set-up the BCM correctly. Before you start, read these procedures carefully and completely.

Setup New Body Control Module (BCM)
Tools Required
Scan Tool (Tech 2) GM factory scan tool !
Important:
• Read this procedure carefully and completely.
• The BCM will not function properly if the Setup New BCM procedure is not performed.
• Perform the Theft Deterrent Re-learn procedure after successfully finishing the Setup New BCM procedure. If the Theft Deterrent Re-learn procedure is not performed after a BCM replacement, the following conditions may occur:
- The vehicle will not be protected against theft by the PASSLOCK system.
- The engine will not crank nor start. Your best bet is to take your vehicle to a dealer or a ASE certified repair shop who has proper tools .

How do I replace the body control module

Replacing the BCM is the easy part , find where it lives on the vehicle , disconnect the connectors plugged into it , an then remove from it's bracket ! Now comes the hard part if you do not have a J2434 programmer tool an a subscription to the GM web site to get the info you need !
http://j2534store.com/
Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration
A new body control module (BCM) must be programmed with the proper RPO configurations. The BCM stores the information regarding the vehicle options and if the BCM is not properly configured with the correct RPO codes, the BCM will not control all of the features properly. The Tech 2 software will automatically prompt you with the RPO's available for the vehicle. Ensure that the following conditions exist in order to prepare for BCM programming:
?€¢
The battery is fully charged.

?€¢
The ignition switch is in the ON position.

?€¢
The data link connector (DLC) is accessible.

?€¢
All disconnected modules and devices are reconnected before programming.

To setup a new BCM, access the SPECIAL FUNCTIONS menu on the scan tool to program the BCM. Select SETUP NEW BCM and follow the instructions on the scan tool. If the BCM fails to accept the program, perform the following steps:
?€¢
Inspect all BCM connections.

?€¢
Verify that the scan tool has the latest software version.

This is something best left to the dealer or a mobile Tech that does this sort of thing , if you get it wrong you could make it that the vehicle won't start or run !

2005 Nissan Murano right indicator and wiper running continuously

You can try to disconnect the Battery for several minutes and then reconnect to reset the BCM. If this doesn't work, you'll need to have the BCM tested or replaced that controls those functions. The Murano has an especially sensitive electronic system and many parts operate through Body Control Modules. (BCM)s

Using the proper equipment, these items can be re-set, if the BCM is not bad and everything else is working properly.

If you've done other repairs recently, double check all of the ground wire connections as this can also lead to things operating when they shouldn't.

My 96 grand Cherokee bcm screen in flashing and I dont know why

If you disconnected the battery then you'll need to reset the clock. Once the clock is set it should stop flashing. Other things that will reset the BCM and cause it to flash like that is an error such as a broken latch or faulty sensor that's tied to the BCM. Hope this helps.

Flashing light on my dashboard for air conditioner and blower

Possible Solution 1 - Check your fuses2 - You can try disconnecting the battery for about 5 minutes to reset the onboard computer (Body Control Module BCM) which controls the items you mention. 3 - If that does not work, you can then try disconnecting (with battery disconnected for at least 30 mins to disarm airbag) and reattaching the wire connector to the BCM in case it has developed a bad connection - This is located under the dashboard on the drivers side. Should be a big square or rectangle connector with lots of wires and a bolt going through it. Unscrew the bolt and disconnect the connector from the BCM then reattach and screw the bolt back in.
The Body Control Module (BCM) supplies vehicle occupants with visual and audible information and controls various vehicle functions, To provide and receive information, the module is interfaced to the vehicle's serial bus communications network, the Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus. This network consists of the powertrain control module (PCM), the Transmission Control Module (TCM) , the electro/mechanical instrument cluster (MIC) , the Airbag Control Module (ACM) , the Compass/mini-trip module and the Controller Antilock brake Module (CAB). The BCM is operational when battery power is supplied to the module. Ignition switch power is needed for ignition switch functions.
The BCM provides the following features: • Automatic door locks • Battery protection • Chimes • Compass/mini-trip support • Courtesy lamps • BCM diagnostic support • Door lock inhibit • Headlamp time delay • Ignition key lamp • Illuminated entry • Instrument panel dimming • Mechanical instrument cluster support • Power door locks (with/without remote keyless entry) • Sliding door memory lock • Vehicle Theft Security system (VTSS) • Windshield wipers / washers (front and rear)
