Question about Buick Regal

Just changed head gasket on 1993 Buick Regal Custom 3.8 engine. Had oil and water mixture. Engine now runs fine with exception of loud knock. Knock was not there prior to head gasket replacement.

Did you leave something in the cylinder? it could be a chunk of carbon that came loose from the intake when you took it apart, and if this is the problem it will brake up and get blown out the exhaust. but i would guess a piece of the old gasket got left in a cylinder. you may have to rent a bore scope and take a look in the spark plug hole to see if you can find the problem, could also be that you have spun a rod bearing due to the water in the oil.

Locating the knock sensor on a 1999 Buick LeSabre Custom

the knock sensors are threaded in to the block on either side of the engine. One is located near where the oil dipstick tube goes into the oil pan. The starter will need to be removed to see/replace. The other is in he same place on the opposite side of the engine.

I hear a knocking sound when ever I start my engine

check oil level if low add oil ---if oil milky in color like chocolate milk possible internal damage from --blown head gasket-damaged head --the knock from engine usually means that damage to a piston rod has occurred [rod knock] and knock usually doesnt throw an engine code and usually fatal to engine will need a mechanic to diagnose how bad or what extent the noise is with engine

You have leaking engine cylinder head gaskets, this may be the cause of the overheating or a result of it, replace the head gaskets and have the radiator cleaned by a by a radiator repair shop, that should cure the problems.

2001 isuzu tropper 3.5l 4x4 engine runs but loud knock changed oil and still has loud knock can i just change the oil pump or do i need to change whole engine

If you are hearing a loud "knock" and it is coming from the bottom of the engine you probably have a bad crankshaft bearing(s) which means engine rebuild or replacement.

Have a loud engine knock and lots of smoke through the tail pipe

at best you have a blown head gasket ,, hopefully its not a cracked head have the compression checked,, this will tell you right away, also , check your oil and coolant,, if you have a white milky substance in your oil thats water , and for sure you have a minimum a gasket problem

Loud knocking noise from the engine the hotter the engine gets the louder

loud knocking is usually a piston problem[wrist pin-piston-piston rings -rod bent damaged-crank -bearing ]piston hitting valve pull plugs and check for fouling it will narrow down area do compression test but knock usually doesnt last long before engine usually goes south other which u can hope for and can sound like a knock would be the exhaust gasket good luck

Car runs fine for a while the cuts off without warnig must cool off for 15 or20 minuits before it will restart 1993 buick regal 3.1 engine

I have seen that problem occur when the engine heats up, developing pressure in the cooling system and antifreeze leaks out into the air intake or cylinders. This might be a blown head gasket or coolant leak in the intake manafold.

94 Buick Regal 3.8. Pings under load. All

Remove and inspect the spark plugs for heavy deposits or glazed-looking interior insulators. Make sure the plugs are the proper type for this engine. Heavy carbon build-up in the cylinder heads will cause pinging. If the ignition system is too advanced, it will also cause problems. Try a different brand of fuel. High engine temperatures can do the same (caused by poor cooling system or lean fuel/air mixture). If the check engine light is on, take the car to Autozone or a similar business that offers a free scan of the computer. This may provide additional clues. Hope some of this helps!

I have an '01 Buick Regal GS with the supercharged 3.8. The car was running sluggish one Oct. morning back in 2005. I stepped into the throttle to try to clear it out. The motor started knocking and...

Make sure the timing chain and gears are in good condition. This motor has sensors that tell the onboard computer about how it is running and the computer adjusts things like timing, gas air mixture and such. If there is a bad sensor, it will cause this motor to miss, run sluggish, even knock and generally run poor "if" running at all.
I suggest you go to your local parts store and buy a Hanes Auto Manual for this vehicle and bone up on what sensors are present and how this system functions. You will find that this manual will provide insight on most problems experienced with this vehicle. It will also provide you will valuable information you will need to properly put this engine back together correctly. Good luck.
