Question about Chrysler Sebring

1 Answer

1997 Chrysley Sebring/ When you step on the brake pedal, the tail lights do not operate. Is it common for a brake switch to go out on these cars? If so, how does it shift out of park? Does that not also operate the shift interlock solenoid?

Brake lights stay on , fuse was blown, replaced it. Lights still on - fuse not blown

Check brake switch on upper part of brake pedal. Just a push on switch that activates when you step on pedal. A common failure and an easy replacement. Follow your break pedal shaft up about 10" and you will find it. Good luck.

My brake lights dont work but the tail lights come on when I turn on the headlights.

Check fuses first. Should be a fuse labeled 'Stop' or 'Brake'.

If fuses are good, climb under the dash and look at the brake switch, it's high up on the brake lever. Make sure it is operated by pressing in the brake pedal.

1997 Chevy Lumina REAR BRAKE LIGHTS DONT WORK

This will either be a fuse or the brake light switch which is on the pedal it's self. More likely the switch as these are fickle at best.

Tail lights and brake lights are combined. I have tail lights but no brake lights. fuses look good.

No they are different systems going to the same place, the tail lights use one fillament in the bulb and the brake and turn signal use the other, a couple things to check, brake light fuse, brake switch (located on the brake peddle) check for power, I have also run into the 4 way flasher that were the problem, more than likely the brake switch

replace the brake light switch mounted on the bracket by the brake pedal. You need to adjust it to operate correctly also. The third brake light works off a different circuit when applying brakes

2000 Chrysler Sebring Convert brake lights

Let's assume you've checked the bulbs and are happy they are serviceable. Therefore you can examine the brake switch input and output (while pedal is depredded)Usually located in the pedal box area of the drivers foot well ! Good luck
