Hi.

It cannot be done manually. The manual way using a lever will damage lid and lock that later must be replaced. If it is not done in the proper way there is also risk to scratch the body.

Try locking back doors and everything with the remote, then unlocking and try again opening. Do this several times.
If it does not go with the remote, try activating the doors a couple of times manually.Often the gas lid gets unlocked in this way.

If that does not work, try also disconnecting battery ground cable for one minute. The fuel system will de-pressurize and this can release the lid. Ensure that you have stereo code if needed.

If still no luck, you can still try operating the release rod from trunk or inner fender. Remove carpet and trim in the trunk on the fuel lid side and have a look.

Last resource will be forcing the door.

Regards.

Ginko

Hello cau.... there is an access panel inside the trunk, on the same side as the gas tank lid. open that panel and pull on the release cable to open the gas tank lid. when you have it opened, lube the latch with some WD-40 penetrating lubricant. Then work it a few times. Joe

I need to open the gas tank from inside the car i do not where

There will not be an opening for the fuel tank inside the car. This would be an enormous safety risk as you would have volatile fumes in side a confined space. May be you are wanting to open the filler door in the side of the car from inside the car which is a vastly different question

My Volvo S70 has a gas tank lid that locks when closed. There is a release on the driver's door. Yesterday when I tried to use the release on the driver's door to open the gas tank lid the gas tank lid...

HI,
Is this a lever or button you pull or push? If it's a button than it must be electric and there is likely a fuse somewehre in the link for both trunk and gas lid that may be under the dash, by the engine, or somwhere else.

If it's a lever than it's likely a cable that runs back to them...but not sure how BOTH would be 'broken'. Does the lever feel 'different' as in loose or less tension than in the past?

On my Audi 96 A6 my locks don't work and it locked my gas tank cover before it went out, is there a way to open in manually, otherwise I can't even drive it to the shop because I unknowingly ran it out of...

Is the remote control for the locks just not working? If the doors are unlocked, the trunk and cas tank cover should be unlocked as well. I have a slightly later model, but that's how it works with mine. Are you saying that you can manually open the doors with the key, but when you do, it doesn't unlock the gas door like normal? If so ,there's a manual pull tab in the trunk to open the gas tank flap on the same side of the trunk as the gas tank flap. After it's open, you can of course close the gas lid flap again, but it won't lock again if the auto-locking system isn't working. You'll have to get the dealer to replace the motor if it's gone out. This should get you in the gas tank for now though. Good luck!

Hello how are you? I was wondering if you could assist/guide me?

There is a electric solenoid to pull the cable removing the pin to open the lid when the button at the driver door is activated. But this is known for unreliable due to the design. In order to release the lid manually, you can pull the trim panel in the trunk at the right side to get the mechanism releasing the cable. Back yard mechanics should be able to replace the solenoid, but instead let them fabricate a handle at the luggage area to manually release the lid. This will be cheaper and more reliable.

Fuel Filler Lid won't open

it sounds like you have a broken cable that connects from the inside of the car to the release of the gas tank. now the other release ( you said the book says is in the trunk on the lefthand-side ) it is probably under the lining of the trunk because most of them are not in plan sight for you to see.

AUdi A6 gas tank button

There is no button to open the gas door from the inside of the car.  As long as the doors are unlocked, you should be able to push in the far right side of the gas door and the left side will pop open. I too spent hours looking for this non existent button..I went as far as to going back to the car dealership.

I can't open the lid to the gas tank. the button to release the gas lid isn't working. also next to it, the button for the trunk release also doesn't work.

I had a similar problem with my TT Roadster and it was a problem with my central locking system, it temporarily disengaged after a minor incident with the rain while my top was down. Anyway for me it was simply a matter of time before the system reengaged it's self it took maybe a week or so, but to get around the problem, behind your passenger seat there is a storage compartment, pull the lever in the storage compartment to open the trunk, once in the trunk on the left sidewall of the trunk there is a seamless square open that square and there is a black pulley in there, pull on that and your gas tank should open. I hope this help.
